The draft laws include the Law on Petroleum (amended), the Law on Domestic Violence Prevention and Control (revised), the Law on Inspection (amended), the Law on Implementation of Democracy at Grassroots Level, and the law amending and supplementing some articles of the Law on Radio Frequencies. (Photo: VNA) Hanoi (VNA) - The National Assembly (NA) Standing Committee concluded its law-making session on August 18 under the chair of NA Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue. Addressing the function, Hue stressed that over four days, the committee has completed the agenda for the session, making comments on eight bills and one resolution project containing legal regulations. The bills included five draft laws to be submitted to the NA for approval at the upcoming 4th session, slated for October. They are the Law on Petroleum (amended), the Law on Domestic Violence Prevention and Control (revised), the Law on Inspection (amended), the Law on Implementation of Democracy at Grassroots Level, and the law amending and supplementing articles of the Law on Radio Frequencies. (Photo: VNA) Hanoi (VNA) – The National Assembly (NA) Standing Committee gave opinions on the explanation, acquisition and revision of the draft Petroleum Law (amended), during its on-going monthly law-making session on August 16. Delivering a report on the explanation, acquisition and revision of the draft law, Chairman of the NA’s Committee for Economic Affairs Vu Hong Thanh said that many have suggested adding midstream and downstream oil and gas exploration and exploitation activities to the scope of the amendment of the draft law. Thanh said that upstream oil and gas exploration and exploitation activities are closely linked with the fields of defence, security and foreign affairs. Transport Ministry requests strict traffic law observation from passenger driver
The site of a car crash into a gas station in Thinh Quang Ward of Dong Da District in Hanoi on August 13 On August 13, a drunk driver lost the control of his car and crashed directly into a gas station in Thinh Quang Ward of Dong Da District in Hanoi, causing injury to several victims. Three days before that, a serious traffic accident had happened in A Luoi District of Thua Thien – Hue Province, killing four people and injuring another two. The truck in the accident, due to being overloaded, became too hard to control when moving downwards a hill and bumped into two motorbikes. In July, traffic accidents nationwide killed four people due to the sleepiness or carelessness of vehicle drivers. Statistics from the National Traffic Safety Committee reveal that in the first 7 months this year, the number of traffic fatalities rose by 7 percent compared to last year. Vietnam makes active contributions to International Law Commission
Vietnamese Ambassador Nguyen Hong Thao (Photo: VNA) Geneva (VNA) – Vietnamese Ambassador Nguyen Hong Thao has pledged to make more contributions to the progress and development of international law, for peace, friendship, cooperation and sustainable development in the world. Speaking at the 73rd session of the International Law Commission (ILC) on August 5, the ambassador, on behalf of the Asian States regional group, spoke highly of efforts by the commission as well as its contributions and support to developing countries. The 73rd session is the final meeting of the commission in the 2017-2022 tenure, which lasted up to six years due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The session took place from April 18 to June 3, and from July 4 to August 5. Vietnamese Ambassador Nguyen Hong Thao was re-elected to the International Law Commission (ILC) for the 2023-2027 tenure on November 12, 2021, with 145 out of 191 votes, ranking fourth among 11 candidates from Asia-Pacific.
