Viet Nam News HÀ NỘI — Prominent artist Lee Sung-kun is showcasing his artwork in Việt Nam for the first time through an exhibition on horses which opened yesterday. Lee is famous not only in South Korea. He has had successful exhibitions in the US, France, Germany, Australia and Austria. His works are displayed at many important places around the world such as the Blue House (the South Korean presidential residence in Seoul), the headquarters of the United Nations in New York, the Pentagon (US), Konkuk University (South Korea), Malacanan Palace (the presidential residence in the Philippines) and the Municipal Administration of Kawasaki (Japan). The exhibition includes more than 50 paintings on Hanji, a traditional Korean paper known for its durability. Though Lee had not been to Việt Nam before the exhibition, he has researched Vietnamese culture and history. Korean contemporary fine arts on display in Hanoi

(Photo: hanoimoi.com.vn) Hanoi (VNA) – A Korean contemporary fine art exhibition named “Colors of Korea” is underway at the Korean Cultural Centre in Hanoi until September 7. The exhibition was opened by the Embassy of the Republic of Korea on August 30, with 84 artworks created by 34 Korean artists on display. They include 66 wood carving paintings and 18 photos. The wood carving paintings depict the multidimensional beauty of Korean nature, people and life while the photos give visitors a closer look at the “Hallyu” (Korean Wave) and beauty style of Korean women. Park Hye-jin, Director of the Korean Cultural Centre said through the event, she expects Vietnamese people will learn about the beauty of Korean fine art, contributing to enhancing cultural exchange between the two countries. Two artworks on display at "Salt of the Jungle" exhibition (Source: VNA) Hanoi (VNA) – Twenty-five artworks including paintings, videos and installations made by artists of Vietnam and the Republic of Korea (RoK) are on display at an exhibition which opened at the Vietnamese Women’s Museum in Hanoi on July 4. The “Salt of the Jungle” exhibition, held by the museum, the Korea Foundation (KF) and CUC Gallery, was last organised in the RoK in 2017 on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two countries (December 22, 1992-2017). The title comes from a work by Vietnamese novelist Nguyen Huy Thiep. It is an epithet of a white flower, said to bloom every 30 years in the jungle. In the novel, an old man finds the flower when he tries to hunt a monkey. The novel is considered outstanding for its poignant metaphor of Vietnam after the Doi Moi (Renewal) period. Korean painters launch 30 more murals in Quang Nam village
Quang Nam (VNA) – Volunteers from the Republic of Korea have completed some 30 more murals on walls of houses in the coastal commune of Tam Thanh in Tam Ky, the capital of central Quang Nam province. It is part of the second stage of the mural village project, namely “Art for a Better Community”, a joint initiative of the Korean Community Art Exchange Programme and the People’s Committee of Quang Nam to support the growth of local tourism industry. On May 10, a group of Korean volunteers, comprising painters and fine arts teachers, together with local young people started working on the murals, depicting portraits of Vietnamese people, the nature, cartoon characters and the Vietnam-RoK friendship, in Thuong Thanh village. They also put on “new clothes” for more than 50 houses in the village with many paintings after 20 days of work. Korean artists resumes mural project in fishing commune

It is part of the Korea Foundation Community Art Exchange Programme. It is two years since the team first started the project. They will now check on their earlier work and paint 20 new murals on other houses for the rest of this month. The city’s administration said RoK artists turned the old walls of 100 houses in the commune into colourful murals, depicting portraits of villagers, local scenes and regional panoramas in the first stage in 2016.
