Just my touch, my feel. That’s what I do,” Trump told reporters at a news conference at the G7 summit in Quebec. “And if I think it won’t happen - I’m not going to waste my time. I don’t want to waste his time.” The main issue for the June 12 summit in Singapore is the U.S. demand for North Korea to abandon a nuclear weapons program that now threatens the United States. “I have a … [Read more...] about Trump says he will know in first minute if N.Korea summit will succeed

Relief for N.Korea only after clear, irreversible steps to denuclearization: Mattis SINGAPORE (REUTERS) - U.S. Defense Secretary Jim Mattis said on Sunday North Korea will receive relief only after it takes clear and irreversible steps to end its nuclear program, adding it would be a bumpy road to a summit between U.S. and North Korean leaders. The comments sought to address concern the United States may be rushing to strike a breakthrough in the unprecedented summit between the two leaders after U.S. President Donald Trump put the meeting back on track for June 12 in Singapore. "We can anticipate, at best, a bumpy road to the (negotiations)," Mattis said at the start of a meeting with his South Korean and Japanese counterparts on the sidelines of Shangri-la dialogue in Singapore. "We will continue to implement all U.N Security Council resolutions on North Korea. North Korea will receive relief only when it demonstrates verifiable and irreversible steps to denuclearization," Mattis … [Read more...] about Relief for N.Korea only after clear, irreversible steps to denuclearization: Mattis
Vice Foreign Minister Kim Kye-gwan issued a statement carried by the North’s state-run Korean Central News Agency (KCNA). It came hours after Trump announced the surprise decision to withdraw from his summit with Kim Jong-un set for June 12. "We express our willingness to sit down face-to-face with the U.S. and resolve issues anytime and in any format," he said in the statement. Kim said the US’ decision to cancel the upcoming talks demonstrates how serious the animosity between the North and the US remains, which he said underlines the urgent need of a summit between the leaders of the two countries. He said that the North Korean leader has made all-out efforts to prepare for the summit with the US, saying his meeting with Trump will serve as a good start. "Despite all of this, the US’ unilateral decision to scrap the talks causes us to reconsider whether all of the efforts and the path we have taken is really the right one or not," he said. Kim said that the North … [Read more...] about N.Korea says open to talks with US anytime
In a statement carried by the Korean Central News Agency, Choe Son-hui, a North Korean vice foreign minister, said that whether the June 12 summit between its leader Kim Jong-un and U.S. President Donald Trump will happen as scheduled entirely rests on the decision and behavior of the U.S. "Whether the U.S. will meet us at a meeting room or encounter us at nuclear-to-nuclear showdown is entirely dependent upon the decision and behavior of the United States," Choe said. "In case the U.S. offends against our goodwill and clings to unlawful and outrageous acts, I will put forward a suggestion to our supreme leadership for reconsidering the DPRK-U.S. summit," she added. DPRK is the abbreviation of the North's official name, the Democratic People's Republic of Korea. The threat came after South Korean President Moon Jae-in and Trump held a summit in Washington on Tuesday (local time). Trump suggested the summit with the North might not take place on June 12.
