Lan to represent Vietnam at world athletics championships

She will compete in the 400 m hurdles qualification round on July 19. If she qualifies, she will head to the semi-finals on July 20 and the finals two days later. Lan will go up against the fastest runners in the world, including Olympic champion Sydney McLaughlin who crossed the finish line in 51.41 seconds and broke her own world record of 51.46 seconds in 400 m hurdles at the U.S. track and field championships last week. Lan won the 400 m hurdles race at the 2018 Asian Games and the Asian championships in 2019. Vietnam’s seafood exports near $5.8bn in January-June

Vietnam’s seafood exports were estimated at nearly US$5.8 billion in the first half of 2022, up 40 percent compared to the same period last year, the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP) reported. Although the growth has shown signs of slowing down, seafood exports in June still brought in over $1 billion, similar to May and up 23 percent year on year. In the second quarter of 2022, the industry's sales exceeded $3.2 billion, a nearly 36 percent increase compared to the $2.4 billion recorded in the same period of 2021. Shrimp exports in the first six months topped $2.3 billion, up 33 percent year on year and accounting for 40 percent of the country’s seafood shipments. Inflation and lack of raw materials are posing challenges for local shrimp businesses, thus many firms have decided to increase the proportion of value-added shrimp and sell them to demanding markets such as Japan, the U.S., and the EU. During the course starting on June 16, the team of head coach Ijiri Akira also played friendlies with the Vietnamese people’s team of the Vietnam - Japan Sports and Culture Exchange Association in Kansai, and Okayama Yunogo Belle – a club playing at the Japan Women’s Football League 2. (Photo: NCHMF) Hanoi (VNA) – Typhoon Chaba weakened into a tropical depression on July 3 morning, moving north of northwest with its eye located in the south of China’s Guangxi province, which borders northern Vietnam. At around 4am, its wind speed fell to below 39km per hour, according to the National Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting (NCHMF). The north-western and north-eastern provinces should expect scattered thunderstorms and downpours, with rainfall from 10 – 30mm, and even 50mm in some locations, on the July 3 evening and night. From July 4 – 7, the north will be likely to see heavy rain , the NCHMF forecast, adding that there is the possibility of tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong winds. Vietnam logs 730 new COVID-19 cases on July 2

COVID-19 vaccination (Photo: VNA) Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam reported an additional 730 COVID-19 cases and no death on July 2, according to the Ministry of Health. The new infections brought the country’s total caseload to 10,748,127 since the pandemic broke out. As many as 9,694 patients were declared to be free from coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 on the day, raising the total number of recoveries to 9,699,357. Meanwhile, the death toll related to the disease was kept at 43,047, accounting for 0.4% of the total infections. More than 233.09 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines had been administered in Vietnam to date, including 18.51 million doses for children aged between 12-17 and 8.23 million doses for kids from 5-11 years old./.
