The move came after the country was hit by a series of suicide bombings and terrorist attacks over the last two weeks that claimed more than 32 lives in East Java and Riau provinces. Almost 3,000 websites have been blocked and about 9,500 others are being inspected, said Indonesian Communication and Information Minister Rudi Antara in Yogyakarta province on May 21. Blocking the sites aims to encourage people to protest acts of radicalism, extremism and terrorism as there is a lot of radical and terrorist content circulated on social media such as Facebook, Instagram and YouTube. A fake website interface designed to steal personal information and money from Vietcombank’s customers. — Photo dantri.com.vn Major banks are warning people not to be fooled by fake websites designed to steal account holders’ cash. Viet Nam Commercial Bank (Vietcombank) says it has noticed a number of fraudulent transactions in recent weeks. The bank is also warning about a website, homebank24/7.com, which has a similar look and design to the bank’s own page. Vietcombank insists this has nothing to do with their company, and advises they only have one official site, www.vietcombank.com.vn Meanwhile, the Bank for Investment and Development of Viet Nam (BIDV) is also warning about a similar fake website, homebank247.com/Bidv/. Recently, the cyber community has continuously experienced the boom of coin-mining malware. Typical attacks include taking advantage of the weaknesses existing in websites and software, as well as the popularity of social networks to spread these dangerous viruses. In March 2018, hundreds of thousands of computers in Vietnam was infected with W32.AdCoinMiner, a virus spread via online advertising services. In particular, this malware was able to self-spread to other computers in the same local network via the software weakness of SMB, which was once successfully exploited by WannaCry, another infamous ransomware to harm more than 300,000 computers in just a few hours. Statistics from Bkav warned that more than half of the number of computers in Vietnam has this vulnerability. VietNamNet Bridge - The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV) has announced its findings about inspections of airlines’ compliance with laws on securing customer privacy. The inspections were conducted at Vietnam Airlines (VNA), Vietjet (VJ) and Jetstar Pacific (JPA). Airlines are using different booking systems Inspectors found that air carriers are using different booking, seat reservation and ticket sale systems. VNA is using a system provided by SABRE Airlines Solution, a prestigious booking software provider. VNA has also set up programs to supervise the activities of computer users and control access to the booking and reservation system. However, the national flag air carrier still cannot fully prevent exposure of passengers’ information.
