N.A. Standing Committee’s 11th session wraps up

Speaking at the closing ceremony, N.A. Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue asked relevant agencies to urgently collect opinions of the N.A. Standing Committee to finalise reports, and submit them to the 15th N.A. at its upcoming third meeting. He noted that the draft laws expected to be submitted to the N.A. for approval at the 3rd meeting have been basically completed. Projects submitted to the N.A. for comment for the first time have also been prepared carefully; therefore, the N.A.’s agencies and related units need to focus on making careful preparations for the 3rd meeting. During the 11th session, the N.A. Standing Committee approved a Resolution on the establishment of Phuong Son township in Luc Nam district and Bac Ly township in Hiep Hoa district in the northern province of Bac Giang. N.A. These three programmes focus on socio-economic development in ethnic minority and mountainous areas, new rural development, and sustainable poverty reduction. In the meeting, the NA Committee for Finance and Budget approved the Government’s proposal to allocate VNĐ100 trillion (US$4.3 billion) to the medium-term public investment capital for the 2021-25 period. A majority of the committee members also agreed that the proposal, which excluded the non-business capital allocation, went in line with the Law on Public Investment and Law on State Budget. The N.A. Committees for Foreign Affairs have closely partnered together both bilaterally and multilaterally under their jurisdiction, the officials said. The Vietnam-Laos relations have become more practical, notably with a workshop presided over by the N.A. Chairmen which shared experience in policy mechanisms for socio-economic recovery and development in the post-pandemic period. The two countries need to facilitate economic, trade and investment relations to match their potential and turn them into an important pillar in bilateral ties, they underlined. Vietnam co-chairs ASEAN-Korea Joint Cooperation Committee’s meeting

During the meeting on May 24, the two sides noted the progress made in the ASEAN-RoK cooperation over the past year, including following up on the outcomes of the 22nd ASEAN-ROK Summit in October 2021 and activities to implement various areas of cooperation under the ASEAN-ROK Plan of Action (2021-2025). Within the framework of the key cooperation mechanism - the ASEAN-Korea Cooperation Fund (AKCF), 20 projects are being implemented with a total investment of 56 million USD, focusing on five priority areas of education and training, the environment, economic recovery, culture and tourism, and health. In addition, there are nine projects waiting for approval, including large-scale ones such as “Clean Air for Sustainable. ASEAN”(CASA) worth 11 million USD.
