Riverside avenue proposed for inclusion in expressway projectThe Saigon Times Daily HCMC – The HCMC Real Estate Association (HoREA) has proposed integrating a planned avenue along the Saigon River with the HCMC-Moc Bai expressway project, which will connect downtown HCMC and some districts west of the city such as Cu Chi, Hoc Mon, District 12 and Go Vap, Thanh Nien news site reported. At a meeting on August 30 with the HCMC Department of Planning and Investment and Tuan Chau Group, HoREA put forward a proposal to supplement the projected expressway linking HCMC and Tay Ninh Province’s Moc Bai with the project to build a riverside avenue from District 1’s Ton Duc Thang Street to Cu Chi District’s Ben San. Illustrative image (Source: VNA) Hanoi (VNA) – The Ministry of Health launched a project on August 29, providing specific healthcare services and rehabilitation therapy to dioxin/Agent Orange (AO) victims for the 2018-2021 period. Addressing the event, Deputy Minister of Health Nguyen Viet Tien said that although the war ended 43 years ago, the toxic chemicals that the US army sprayed over Vietnam have left enduring pains and wounds, affecting millions of Vietnamese people and their offspring. Vietnam has approximately 4.8 million AO victims, millions of whom are also struggling with disease and poverty, in desperate need of healthcare and rehabilitation support. Tien stressed that as part of efforts to implement the Party and Government’s policies to deal with AO consequences and support AO victims, the health ministry issued Decision No. 5305/QD-BYT on November 24, 2017 which approved a project to care for victims in the 2018-2021 period. WB’s project to improve Thai Nguyen’s urban infrastructure

(Photo: VNA) Hanoi (VNA) – The World Bank has approved 80 million USD in loan to enhance the quality of key urban infrastructure in Thai Nguyen city, the capital of northern Thai Nguyen province. The funds will be spent to construct and upgrade urban roads and bridges, improve local drainage system, urban amenities and public spaces and build preschools. It will also support better urban planning and management, taking into account climate change and disaster risks. The project is expected to directly benefit more than 81,000 residents of the city from improved urban infrastructure that will reduce the risk of flooding and expand access to improved sanitation, reduce vehicle travel times on new and improved roads and increase access to child care services and public spaces.
