A blind woman in the northern province of Bac Giang is calling for help as she faces kidney failure, but her family are too poor to cover the treatment. Trieu Thi Yen, 46, from Yen Dung District has been suffering from kidney failure for 14 years. She has to come to Bac Giang General Hospital for dialysis three times a week. Yen and her son Yen said that she was blind since birth. In 2005, she started working for a massage facility for the blind in Hai Duong Province. Then, three years later, she gave birth to her son Trieu Van Hung. When her son was three years old, she faced tiredness and oedema. She also lost breast milk. She was diagnosed with the final stages of kidney failure. She was totally shocked. Due to financial difficulties, she could not afford to buy powdered milk for her child. The couple said an acquaintance had given them two cans in red and green. Thinking that the green one is beer and the other coke, they drank it. Three family members died while another is in a critical condition due to suspected asphyxiation at their tenanted home in Thu Duc City, Ho Chi Minh City on Wednesday. A source close to Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper confirmed on the same day that the municipal Department of Public Security was coordinating with Thu Duc City police in investigating the reason behind the deaths. Preliminary information showed that residents on No. 6 Street in Hiep Binh Phuoc Ward, Thu Duc City discovered a married couple and their two children lying unconscious at their rented house on Wednesday morning. $43mn hematology hospital inaugurated in Ho Chi Minh City
The second branch of the Ho Chi Minh City Hematology and Blood Transfusion Hospital, costing more than VND1 trillion (US$43.1 million), was officially inaugurated in Binh Chanh District on Thursday. The facility will be the leading hematology hospital in the southern region and Vietnam in general, Dr. Bui Chi Dung, director of the Ho Chi Minh City Hematology and Blood Transfusion Hospital, said at the inauguration. The construction of the hospital, which cost over VND1 trillion, was initiated in October 2018. The facility covers an area of 33,825 square meters, consists of 33 departments, and has the maximum capacity of 400 beds.
