The ASEAN-Republic of Korea (ASEAN-ROK) Commemorative Summit is held in the port city of Busan on November 25-26 to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the dialogue partnership between the ASEAN and South Korea. The biggest international conference that South Korea hosts under the Moon Jae-in administration, this year's summit is the third of its kind after the editions in 2009 and 2014. The event will review the development of ASEAN-South Korea relations over the past 30 years and present the shared vision of ASEAN and South Korea for the next 30 years. In conjunction with this meeting, the first Mekong-South Korea summit will be held Wednesday towards South Korea strengthening its cooperation with five countries in the Mekong River basin. Vietnam is the central cooperation partner of South Korea’s New Southern Policy, and the economic cooperation between the two countries is playing a leading role in that between South Korea and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), South Korean Ambassador to Vietnam Park Noh Wan told Tuoi Tre News in an interview. ASEAN leaders are in the Republic of Korea (ROK), the formal name of South Korea, to attend the 2019 ASEAN-ROK Commemorative Summit and related summits held in the city of Busan from November 25 to 26. South Korea Tourism Festival in HCM City this weekend
HCM CITY Thirty Vietnamese and South Korean firms will participate in the Korea Tourism and Culture Festival to be held at Nguyễn Huệ walking street in HCM City this weekend. They include Lotte PND, Naver, Vietravel, Saigontourist, Bến Thành Tourist, Transviet, and TST Tourist as well as popular tourist attractions in South Korea such as Baekje Historic Areas, Jeju Island and Jeollanam-do Province. The two-day event, organised by the Korea Tourism Organisation in Việt Nam, seeks to promote cultural and tourism exchanges between the two countries. Vietnam-South Korea FTA highly increases two way trade turnover
According to a representative of the HCMC Department of Industry and Trade, South Korea is now the fifth largest export market of Vietnam with turnover accounting for over five percent. The representative was speaking at a meeting discussing solutions to improve the competitive ability of Vietnamese goods in South Korea yesterday. Explaining the turnover high growth rate, Ms. Trinh Thi Thu Hien, head of Goods Origin Division under the Export Import Department of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, said that VKFTA has worked to boost export of Vietnamese goods which South Korea needs and vice versa. Businesses of the two countries have no direct contradiction so the export turnover of Vietnamese goods to the market has highly increased, she said.
