Despite the fact that the construction of Metro Line No.2 connecting South Thang Long and Tran Hung Dao has been delayed for ten years now, the Hanoi People’s Committee proposed the government to add VND16.1 trillion ($701.78 million) to the project, increasing its total investment capital to VND35.7 trillion ($1.56 billion). The C9 metro underground station is part of the metro line No.2 connecting Nam Thang Long and Tran Hung Dao street. Some 60 percent of the feedback was contributed by people between the ages of 22 and 60, of which 88 percent of respondents were Vietnamese, while the rest were foreigners. Nearly 40 percent of surveyed people are residents living near Hoan Kiem Lake, the potential location of underground station C9. A master plan of C9 station is displayed near Hoan Kiem Lake. The master plan of underground station C9 has been opened to the public from March 9 to 31. The station is planned to be located at km9+864,645 under the park by Hoan Kiem Lake on Dinh Tien Hoang street with three floors, including a concourse level, a technical area and a platform level. About 90 per cent of survey respondents want an underground metro station near Hoan Kiem Lake in the Old Quarter, according to a representative of the Hanoi Metro Railway Management Board. Hanoi residents visiting the model of the C9 underground metro station The survey, which is held from March 9 until the end of this month, will collect ideas from the public for the underground metro station C9, which is part of metro line No.2 connecting South Thang Long in the northwest and Tran Hung Dao Street in the south of the capital. HCM City’s metro lines are facing various issues with procedures, disbursement, and cost overrun. On-going construction of Metro Line 1 in HCM City The HCM City Urban Railway Management Board recently asked the city people's committee to give VND1trn (USD44m) in advance to pay contractors working on the Metro Line 1 this year. This is the fourth time the city has advanced funds because the government has been too slow with disbursement. The city had to pay VND600bn in late 2016 and in 2017, the city paid VND500bn and then VND1.2trn in advance. According to the Ministry of Planning and Investment, the National Assembly had yet to approve the final cost and the re-lending ratio of ODA from Japan hasn't been specified. Metro Line 1 was approved by the city in 2007 with an investment of VND17.40trn (USD766.4m). Approval by the National Assembly was not needed at that time.
