Malaysia witnesses strong economic recovery

Chief statistician Datuk Seri Dr Mohd Uzir Mahidin said in a statement that Malaysia is blessed with natural resources and commodities such as petroleum products and palm oil. As a net commodity exporter, Malaysia also benefits from higher commodity prices resulting in the country’s total trade chalking up a double-digit annual growth of 21.3% to 231.4 billion RM, he said. Exports rose 20.7% to 27.5 billion RM while imports went up 22% to 103.9 billion RM. The trade balance rose 15.7% and continued to remain in surplus at 23.5 billion RM. European businesses positive about Vietnam’s prospects for green growth

Vietnam to solidify macro-economic stability: PM
Vietnam’s economy has performed well amid a difficult global environment in the first six months of the year. Chinh highlighted the GDP growth of 7.72% in the second quarter, the highest second-quarter growth since 2011, and the six-month GDP growth of 6.42%. Northern Vietnam hit by massive power outages
Around 1 p.m., power went out in Hanoi’s inner districts like Ba Dinh, Cau Giay, Nam Tu Liem, Hai Ba Trung, and Hoang Mai. Nghia, manager of an office building in the Cau Giay District, stated that the power was restored after about 30 minutes. However the voltage spiked to more than 240 kilovolts (kV), causing some electrical equipment to be damaged. The damage is being assessed by building management. An employee of a media company in Hai Ba Trung District reported that while eating lunch at the office, power suddenly went out then came back on and then went out again. The loss of power recurred 10-15 minutes, causing many company equipment to be "turned on and off multiple times." Hanoi University of Science and Technology, located in Hai Ba Trung District, had to announce that "the entire school lost power due to a power grid failure in the city. Vietnam repors 685 more Covid-19 infections on Monday
An additional 685 new Covid-19 infections were confirmed on Monday, raising the national tally to over 10.74 million, according to the Ministry of Health. As of Monday evening, the number of Covid-19 patients in Vietnam has increased to over 10.74 million. On July 4, an additional 6,179 more patients recovered from the disease, raising the number of recoveries in the country to over 9.71 million. On Monday evening, one death related to Covid-19 was recorded, raising the total fatalities to 43,088, accounting for 0.4 per cent of total infections.
