Major Dang Duc Minh of the People’s Police Academy said at a conference in Ho Chi Minh City on Friday that every year there are around 500 accidents involving foreigners, many fatal. A high proportion of the violators are from South Korea, China and Laos, he said. Minh blamed carelessness and ignorance of road rules. Many foreigners have been caught driving at high speed, jumping red lights, not wearing helmets, and failing to produce driving licenses, he said. Nguyen Van Thach, head of the traffic safety department under the Ministry of Transport, said motorbike rental services are to blame for increasing number of foreign traffic violations when foreign visitors currently can hire motorbikes without having to own a driving license. Hurting tourism image Authorities in HCMC, a top tourist destination in the country, have expressed determination to crack down on foreign traffic violators to ensure road safety and protect its tourism image. Low profit margin and storage risks have been blamed for the situation. Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Do Thang Hai told VnExpress that sales of E5 RON 92 bio-gasoline (E5) has dropped since the end of 2018. According to statistics released by the Ministry of Industry and Trade, in 2018, Vietnam consumed over 3.1 million tons of E5 gasoline, equivalent to 42 percent of all gasoline in the market. However, in the first quarter of 2019, this number fell to 38 percent. Moreover, after over one year of mass selling bio-fuel, petrol stations are beginning to switch back to selling RON 95, as a result of low sales and meagre profit margins. "Most of our customers are asking for RON 95 fuel now, so after a long time of selling E5 we are switching back to mineral gasoline," said a private gas station worker in Hanoi’s Ha Dong District, saying her station had removed some E5 cylinders to make space for RON 95. The Hanoitimes - The sanctions leave direct impact on North Korean economy shown through a sharp decline in exports last year. What are visions for the denuclearization after second no-deal summit? The failure of the second Trump-Kim summit in Hanoi suggests sanctions remain a big issue between the US and North Korea, foreign media quoted international experts as saying. Viet Nam News by Paul Kennedy I don’t really know that much about Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan although it’s safe to say he has far more money than I can ever dream of. And believe me, I can dream of a lot. Ten years ago, Sheik Mansour bought Manchester City football club for a reported £210 million (VNĐ6.5 trillion). The season before the member of the royal family of Abu Dhabi decided to splash the cash, they finished ninth in the Premier League but since his investment, the only way has been up. They have won the Premier League three times, the FA Cup and last weekend for the fourth time they won the Football League Cup. Money well spent or success bought? City fans don’t care either way as long as the side is winning trophies. And right now, that’s exactly what they are doing. For many years, generations in fact, Manchester City lived in the shadows of their wealthier and far more successful rivals, Manchester United but in the last five or … [Read more...] about No matter how much you have, money can’t always buy you love
