HCMC - Vietnam is an increasingly important education market for Australia as the number of Vietnamese students in that country keeps growing strongly, officials from Australian education agencies said on Monday. Tran Thu Huong, deputy director of Australian Education International in Vietnam (AEI Vietnam), said more than 16,000 Vietnamese students were studying at schools of different levels Down Under. Huong disclosed the figure at a meeting here on Monday between reporters and Mark Howland, director in charge of international students at Australia's New South Wales Department of Education and Training, during his week-long trip to Vietnam to look into the market. Huong did not clarify how the number of Vietnamese students in Australia was growing year-on-year, but AEI ranked Vietnam in the list of markets from which enrolments posted double-digit growth. Saigontourist, Singapore partners open hotel management course By Dao Loan - The Saigon Times Daily HCMC - Saigontourist Holding Company in HCMC, in collaboration with PSB Academy and Singapore Hotel and Tourism Education Centre (SHATEC), opened a hotel management course for Saigontourist staff in the city yesterday. Thirty-one people from Saigontourist hotels are attending the six-month course. They will spend the first three months in Vietnam learning theory and will take a three-month apprenticeship at hotels of four stars or above in Singapore. The main topics include restaurant management, business skills, financial management, marketing and event management. Deputy general director of Saigontourist Tran Hung Viet said the course was part of a long-term program to train and retrain the company’s employees, especially those in the hotel management sector.
