Once Vietnam dropped its on-arrival COVID-19 testing requirement for foreign travelers and reopened its international air routes in mid-May, the number of foreigners entering the country began to increase, paving the way for foreign enclaves in Ho Chi Minh City to return to their pre-pandemic life. Children’s COVID-19 vaccines with extended shelf life worry parents in Ho Chi Minh City
Worries about the side effects of COVID-19 vaccines and the quality of children’s jabs with extended expiration dates have made parents in Ho Chi Minh City hesitant to have their children vaccinated against the coronavirus, according to a recent survey. The municipal Center for Disease Control (HCDC) on Thursday announced the results of a rapid survey of 2,792 parents on vaccinations for children aged five to under 18 years old who are attending schools in 22 districts of the city. Of these parents, 76 percent have kids aged five to under 12, and the rest have children from 12 to less than 18 years old. Out of the more than 2,100 children aged five to below 12 involved in the survey, 34 percent had yet to be immunized, 33 percent had received their first vaccine shots, and the other 33 percent had gotten their third jabs. ITE HCMC, the largest and most established travel event in the Mekong Delta region, will be held under the theme of “Growing Forward Together” as part of the efforts to revive inbound tourism. Indian cultural festival underway in Vietnam
According to Indian Ambassador to Vietnam Pranay Verma, the cultural festival is an activity celebrating the 50th anniversary of the two countries’ diplomatic ties. The event aims to boost cultural exchange and step up cooperation in trade, investment, education, information technology, tourism and healthcare between the two countries. On the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange (HoSE), the VN-Index edged down 0.35 per cent to close at 1,269.18 points. The index closed Thursday at 1,273.66 points, down 0.13 per cent compared to the previous session. Market breadth was negative with 338 decliners and 124 gainers. Liquidity increased compared to Thursday with 607.6 million shares traded on the southern exchange, worth VND14.9 trillion (US$636.6 million). The VN30-Index echoed the VN-Index pattern.
