Specifically, in the first six months of the year only 2.2 million records were handled through online public services. Fragments of human bones dating back about 2,300 years were uncovered at the Giong Ca Vo archaeological site in Ho Chi Minh City’s outlying district of Can Gio. The discovery was part of the results of the 2021-22 excavation jointly conducted by the Institute of Archeology under the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences and the History Museum of Ho Chi Minh City. It was reported during a working trip of Tran The Thuan, director of the municipal Department of Culture and Sports on Friday last week. Surprising discoveries Besides five exploratory holes, a hole measuring over 200 square meters was dug. In the hole, 224 burial jars and 15 tombs were found. In a tomb, archeologists discovered the remains of an ancient person believed to be a 1.65-meter man. Two fangs were also found, suggesting that the person had a high position in society. The Consulate General of France in Ho Chi Minh City on Saturday again opened its door to visitors for one day as part of the European Heritage Days. The 150-year-old building welcomed visitors who were required to register in advance and divided into small groups for 30-minute tours from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm within the day. The tours took visitors to the special architectural spaces inside the Consulate General, the artworks and furniture of the Nguyen Dynasty (1802–1945) displayed at the venue, and a 1.5-hectare park home to ages-old trees. An old problem to many cities around the world, public urination leaves a stench at many busy places across Ho Chi Minh City, where public toilets are scarce. Puddles of urine soak the roads in the city’s central District 1 so badly that no one can walk by without feeling nauseous. Informal gig workers like motorbike taxi drivers and street vendors spend a lot of time outside without access to proper sanitation facilities, forcing them to urinate in public.
