PANO – Recently, some China’s orthodox mass media, including the Global Times, the International Herald Leader published articles on China’s illegal placement of the drilling rig Haiyang Shiyou-981 deep in Vietnam’s exclusive economic zone and continental shelf. These articles are written by Ke Xiaozhai, Zun Xiaoying, Lu Jianren of the Southeast Asia Research Institute under the Guangxi University. A Vietnamese researcher Hoang Truong, out of his curiosity had thoroughly read these articles and arrived at a conclusion that these articles are nothing but the chaotic and unscientific arguments on the phenomenon and nature of the incident. The researcher, in his writing to the People’s Army Newspaper on June 7th, cited the article of Ke Xiaozhai with the so called scientific analysis of the four labyrinths that drive Vietnam to take adventurous acts. Hanoi police confiscate smuggled animal organs Hanoi police on November 4 seized nearly one tonne of animal organs that were being smuggled from the northern province of Bac Ninh. Driver Truong Dinh Thanh admitted to police that he was hired to transport the batch to the capital city for consumption. Over the past 10 days, the capital's police have busted a number of similar cases. On October 24, a lorry, registration number 89C - 04055, was found carrying 17 parcels of foul-smelling pork organs when it was handling goods in Ninh Hiep, outlying district of Gia Lam. All of them had Chinese labels. Man accused of stealing from poor Police in the southernmost province of Ca Mau have arrested deputy chairman of Ngoc Chanh Commune People's Committee, Tran Hoang Anh, for allegedly stealing money used to support the patriotic poor. Dep. PM convenes meeting to discuss Cat Tuong Beauty Salon case Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan convened a meeting in Hanoi on October 28 asking the health sector to spruce up management after a 37-year-old woman was dumped into the river following a botched cosmetic surgery at the Cat Tuong Beauty Salon. Speaking at the meeting, Deputy PM Nhan ordered the Ministry of Health and the People's Committee to verify the responsibility of individuals and agencies in the case concerning the above incident. Nhan said the Ministry needs to check the present regulations and tighten management accordingly in private medical facilities across the country. There should be regulations whereby state-run hospital physicians must report to the public hospital management board about their part time work in private clinics. All cosmetic surgery centers in country under inspection Deputy Minister of Health Nguyen Thi Xuyen in coordination with related agencies sent a document to municipal and provincial administrators in the country to conduct thorough inspections on all plastic surgery centers. Inspections should focus on skills, treatment methodologies, surgery procedures, rights and responsibilities of client and cosmetic surgeons, and operation license as per the country's law. Inspectors must issue proper penalties on centers which offer illegal cosmetic surgery services to earn profits. The Department of Health in Hanoi has publicized list of 33 beauty parlors and three hospitals that are licensed legally to offer cosmetic surgery services.
