Pig prices sharply drop following tighter border controls
Pig prices in Vietnam have considerably fallen in recent days following tighter control over illegal pig export through border gates. In the northern region, a kilo of pig costs between VND65,000-69,000, around VND5,000-6,000 lower than two weeks ago. The highest price of VND69,000 is reported in Hung Yen and Thai Binh, while the lowest is in Ha Nam and Tuyen Quang. Pig prices have also decreased in the central and Central Highlands regions and have declined by VND1,000-6,000 per kilo to VND60,000-67,000. Meanwhile, the prices in the southern region have dropped to VND58,000-70,000 per kilo. In the first two weeks of July, pig prices have increased to VND75,000 per kilo from VND60,000.
