When the organisation board of the 19th Asian Physics Olympiad (APhO) announced the names of the contestants receiving special prizes, Trần Đức Huy stepped up to receive the award. Huy, a student of the physics specialised class of the Hanoi-Amsterdam Gifted High School, received the award for the best contestant of the host country. The upgrade is likely to widen Vietnam’s access to large funds allocated according to the FTSE Emerging Index, including Vanguard FTSE Emerging Market ETF. FTSE benchmark. Vietnam is has good chance of winning the second emerging market status in the next review in September 2020 by FTSE Russell, a leading global provider of financial services, according to KB Securities. Vietnam is currently in the Frontier market group, and was added to the FTSE Russell’s watchlist for posible upgrade to Secondary Emerging Market in September 2018. However, after one year of review, Vietnam only met seven out of nine criteria of FTSE. The criterion of “Settlement – rare incidence of failed trades” was not evaluated. (Source: vietnamnet.vn) Hanoi (VNA) - Vietnamese students won three gold and three silver medals at the 16th International Junior Science Olympiad (IJSO) which wrapped up on December 12 in Doha, Qatar. The 16th IJSO was co-organised by Qatar’s Ministry of Education and Higher Education and Qatar University, from December 3-12 under the slogan ‘Inspiring Today’s Young Generation for the Skills of Tomorrow’. The gold medalists are Dam Gia Bao, Nguyen Tri Duc and Cao Thuy An, all 10th-grade students of Hanoi Amsterdam High School for the Gifted. Nine-year-old triumphs at writing competition
She may only be nine-years-old but young writer Bui Mai Khue is already heading on the ‘write’ path in the world of literature after winning a top prize in a competition. Bui Mai Khue won the Special Prize at The JX-ENEOS Children's Story Award in Vietnam. Photo daidoanket.vn The JX-ENEOS Children's Story Award is an annual contest in Japan running since 1970. It was brought to Vietnam last year by Viet Nam More Production and Kim Dong Publishing House. Khue won the first prize at elementary school and younger category for her short story Bướm Lá (Leaf Butterfly). It tells the adventures of yellow leaves that are thought to be butterflies. The story is inspired by the leaves falling down from the tree which Khue's mother shows her. Leaf Butterfly captured the heart of the jury board because of its meaningful content, according to Khue's mother.
