Ministry proposes keeping Covid-19 in Group A of infectious diseases Regarding the reason why Covid- 19 has not been considered an endemic disease in Vietnam yet, the Ministry of Health said that most countries in the world are in a state of unstable cases and deaths, with an erratic increase and decrease trend when new variants of the SARS-CoV-2 virus appear. At the same time, acquired immunity (due to vaccines and infection) has not been stable for a long time and decreases over time. In Vietnam, more than 9 million new cases were reported in the first seven months of this year, with over 33,000 cases in July alone, up 22.4 percent from June. The manufacturing, wholesale, retail, banking-finance, and professional consulting sectors expressed the greatest desire to expand. The survey focused on mid-career jobs and found nearly half of enterprises plan to hire people with at least six months’ experience. Power shortage worries increase hunger for coal

Cao Son Coal, the company with the largest mining output in Vietnam, on July 19 announced to improve and expand the capacity of the Cao Son coal mine in Cam Pha in the northeastern province of Quang Ninh, to meet high production requirements. Coal mining companies are increasing output to deal with power generation shortages, Le Toan The mine has total reserves of almost 52 million tonnes, with a designed capacity of about 4.5 million tonnes per year. By upgrading the reserves, Cao Son’s coal mine is expected to complete a record high mining output of 6.78 million tonnes in 2022. Phan Quoc Viet, director of Cao Son Coal, said, “We have mobilised equipment to maximise the exploitation of raw coal at the Cao Son mine. Lai Chau wants to build airport

The northern mountainous province of Lai Chau is seeking Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh’s approval for the construction of an airport through a public-private partnership (PPP). According to the provincial people’s committee, Lai Chau Airport is listed in the government’s national aviation development plan issued in 2018. Under Lai Chau’s proposal, Lai Chau Airport would have an annual capacity of 500,000 passengers and be used for both civil and military purposes by 2030. The airport would cover 167 hectares in Tan Uyen Town and cost VND8 trillion (USD344.82 million). Lai Chau People’s Committee said that several investors had expressed their interest in the project. At present, Dien Bien Airport is the only one in the northwestern region of Vietnam. Under the Ministry of Transport’s planning proposal, by 2030, the region would have three more airports at Lai Chau, Sapa in Lao Cai and Na San in Son La.
