AES-VCM Mong Duong Power Co., Ltd. donates scholarships to support the tuition of disadvantaged children in Cam Pha city The children are from five wards and communes of Cam Pha city, including Mong Duong, Cam Hai, Cong Hoa, Cua Ong, and Duong Huy. This is the third year the company has been implementing the scholarship programme to support disadvantaged children living in the areas surrounding Mong Duong 2 Power Plant in order to support part of their school expenses at the beginning of the new school year. This VND204 million ($8,870) scholarship programme is part of the company’s CSR initiatives focusing on education, healthcare, livelihood restoration, and environmental protection for the local communities of Mong Duong 2 Power Plant. In a bid to help them concentrate on their studies, the ethnic minority students are given meals and places to sleep. It has helped improve social skills and make them feel more attached to the school, teachers and friends. Huoi Tu 2 Primary School in Ky Son District, is more than 300 kilometres away from Vinh City and one of the most disadvantaged areas of the province. At 5pm from Monday to Friday, students, mostly Mong ethnic minorities, gather at the kitchen of the school to get their tray of food. Another child abuse case has been discovered at the Phan Chu Trinh Primary School in Tan Phu district of HCM City.
