The HCMC Delegation of the 14th and 15th National Assembly (NA) deputies visit and offer gifts to troops stationed on Con Dao Islands. The event marked the 47th anniversary of the Liberation of Southern Vietnam and National Reunification Day (April 30) and the 132nd birthday of President Ho Chi Minh (May 19). Speaking at the event, Deputy Head of the delegation Van Thi Bach Tuyet expressed her joy at the development of Con Dao Island and tourism infrastructure, preservation and promotion of historical values, and improvement of the living standards of local people and soldiers on the island. Vietnam Airlines, 15 other airlines to take part in Sustainable Flight Challenge
TSFC is a program to boost initiatives of developing the aviation industry which was launched by SkyTeam, a global airline alliance with members being the world's large airlines. The program aims to find airlines operating the most eco-friendly commercial flight along with the most sustainable development. The airlines will be assessed on 14 items by International Examiner Council, experts, leaders of the aviation sector. The winner shall be honored at a special event in this June. The Sustainable Flight Challenge has attracted participation of 16 airlines from different countries, including the United States, France, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain, China, the Republic of Korea and so on. In the first activity, the airlines will perform flights with a long distance of over 5,000 kilometers, 1,500-to-5,000-kilometer medium distance to receive assessment on effective exploitation and environment protection on the flight routes. Therefore, healthcare institutes have borrowed medical machines and devices from auction winners for medical supplies and chemicals to answer these needs. On April 12, 2018, the Health Ministry sent formal Dispatch No.2009/BYT-KHTC to Vietnam Social Security (VSS) regarding health insurance payment for technical services related to these borrowed machines. VN-Index extends losses with last-minute sell-off
The index started off in the green but gradually declined throughout the day and closed with a near 11-point drop, marking its third straight losing session. It has closed lower in six out of nine recent sessions, losing over 194 points this month. Trading on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange, on which the index is based, fell by 28.4 percent to VND14.58 trillion ($631.3 million). The VN-30 basket, comprising the 30 largest capped stocks, saw 16 tickers gain, led by SSI of leading brokerage SSI Securities with a 5.8 percent rise. It was followed by PLX of fuel distributor Petrolimex, up 4.7 percent, and VRE of Vingroup's mall operator subsidiary Vincom Retail, up 3.8 percent. TPB of private lender TPBank gained 3.3 percent, and CTG of state-owned lender VietinBank rose 2.7 percent.
