A group of Vietnamese tourists takes part in a 10-day trip to Turkey (Photo: baomoi.com) Hanoi (VNA) – An exhibition providing information on Turkish tourism for Vietnamese people will take place in Ho Chi Minh City from May 3-5. In addition to photos and videos of the country, members of a Vietnamese delegation who recently took part in a 10-day trip to Turkey will share their experiences at the event. Visitors will also be able to join talk shows and receive tips for travelling to the country. The event will be held free of charge at the Saigon Centre shopping mall. In July 2016, Turkey’s national flag carrier Turkish Airlines opened a direct flight connecting Istanbul and Vietnam’s Hanoi and HCM City, with one flight a day each. HCM City plans to launch a smartphone app for tourists this June. The HCM City Department of Tourism and the branch of the Vietnam Post and Telecommunications Group (VNPT) in the city on March 28 signed a co-cooperation agreement on the joint development a smartphone tourism app. Foreign tourists in HCM City According to Bui Ta Hoang Vu, director of the municipal Department of Tourism, last year, the city welcomed more than 6.4 million foreign visitors, but only 30% came on groups and tours, while the rest were backpackers. The department thinks it is necessary for the city to build a smartphone app for tourists, particularly backpackers, through providing them accurate information about places, shopping centres, food services as well as hotlines of management agencies. The concerts are among a series of activities held within the framework of the Vietnam Connection Music Festival in the city. The concert on August 18 night entitled “Stephanie Chase and Friends” will see performance of Vivaldi’s Four Seasons and Bach’s Concerto for Two Violins in D Minor staged by US artist Stephanie Chase, one of the most renowned violists in the world, and Vietnamese renowned violist Bui Cong Duy. Speaking at the opening ceremony, Vice President of Vietnam Red Cross Society (VRCS) Tran Thi Hong An urged the HCM City Red Cross Society to promote humanitarian values and the movement of good deeds, and provide effective humanitarian support for disadvantaged and vulnerable people in the community. With about 4 million volunteers all over the country, the VRCS has been harvesting significant achievements for their cause, said Gianni Volpin, Head of Mission in Vietnam at the International Committee of the Red Cross.
