Thailand, WB to Enhance Human Capital Development in ASEAN
This Initiative is expected to boost human capital development in the ASEAN region including by preparing ASEAN’s human capital for the 4th Industrial Revolution, while taking into account trends such as ageing societies in the region. Dr. Victoria Kwakwa, Vice President of the World Bank, paid a visit to Thailand and had a meeting with Deputy Foreign Minister Virasakdi Futrakul on 25 January 2019. Indonesia invites WB donors to invest in human capital projects
Indonesian Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Inderawati (Source: ANTARA) Jakarta (VNA) – Indonesian Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati has invited all World Bank (WB) donors to invest in human capital projects to improve Indonesia’s Human Capital Index (HCI). Through human capital, projects donor countries are invited to invest in human capital to prepare individuals to work and increase economic competitiveness of a country in the future. Indonesia has willingly registered to become the initial country to adopt the project because with the belief that investment in human capital is a strategic step to assure sustainable and quality growth, she remarked. The index defines human capital as the knowledge, skills, and health that people accumulate over their lives. According to the report released on October 11 by the international financial institution at the World Bank-International Monetary Fund Annual Meetings in Bali, Indonesia, Singapore’s HCI is 0.88.
