The Ministry of Health documented 13,670 new coronavirus infections across Vietnam on Friday, in addition to 1,149 recoveries and 200 deaths. The latest cases, including nine imported and 13,661 domestic transmissions, were recorded in 59 provinces and cities, the ministry said, elaborating that 8,628 patients were infected in the community. Ho Chi Minh City confirmed 1,311 of the latest infections, Can Tho City 982, Hanoi 791, Soc Trang Province 791, Binh Thuan Province 581, Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province 560, Dong Nai Province 496, Khanh Hoa Province 450, Binh Duong Province 302, Hai Phong City 198, Thua Thien-Hue Province 128, Da Nang 119, Lam Dong Province 98, Quang Nam Province 67, and Quang Ninh Province seven. According to the Ministry of Health, Vietnam could record more Covid-19 outbreaks, especially in current weather conditions, which are favorable for the spread of the virus. In the fourth Covid-19 wave, which started in late April 2021, Vietnam has recorded 1,152,926 cases, including 1,150,625 locally-transmitted cases (99.8%). As many as 934,444 patients have recovered from the disease (81%), and 24,083 people died of the virus in 45 out of 63 provinces and cities in the country. According to the Ministry of Health, in the past seven days, some provinces reported an increase in the number of locally transmitted infections compared to the previous seven days, with an increase of 1,193 cases in Ho Chi Minh City and 1,096 cases in Ba Ria - Vung Tau. SÓC TRĂNG PROVINCE — The Cửu Long (Mekong) Delta province of Sóc Trăng is urgently stepping up procedures to call for investment from the private sector in the Trần Đề deep-water seaport project. Trần Văn Lâu, chairman of the provincial People’s Committee, said the Government approved a new master plan on the development of seaports in September, which is part of the sustainable development plan for the country’s marine economy for 2021-30, with a vision to 2050. The Trần Đề deep-water seaport project was added to the seaport development master plan. The existing Trần Đề Port will be developed into an international deep-water seaport on a large scale.
