Strict visa policies hinder international guests from visiting Vietnam
Because of strict visa policies, promotions to attract international tourists have not been as effective as expected, according to many businesses. Enterprises have made huge investments to welcome back tourists, but such illogical visa policies may slow down the tourism recovery pace. Being confused and facing difficulties Many travel companies in Da Nang City told Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper that visa policies for foreign tourists were still their biggest concern. Before the COVID-19 outbreak, Vietnam offered the visa waiver policy for citizens of many countries and the normal visa approval period was three to five days (visas which were valid for 30 days). UV index reaches very harmful levels in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City
The National Center for Hydro-meteorological Forecasting released a warning against medium to extremely high ultraviolet (UV) radiation levels in all three regions of Vietnam on Wednesday. An UV Index reading of three to five is medium, six to seven is high, eight to 10 is very high, and above 10.5 means extremely high. All of those UV index levels can cause harm to skin and eyes upon long unprotected sun exposure. The northern localities will suffer moderate to very high UV index levels while provinces and cities in the central and southern regions will experience high to very high UV radiation benchmarks, according to the forecast. COVID-19: Vietnam reports 1,895 new cases on May 17

Hanoi reported the highest number of infections on the day with 419 cases, followed by Vinh Phuc with 119 and Phu Tho with 111. The national tally reached 10,699,965. A total 5,094 COVID-19 patients were given the all clear on May 17, bringing the number of recoveries so far to 9,364,857. There are 206 patients needing breathing support, while four deaths were recorded in the past 24 hours, taking the total fatalities to 43,071.
