The Mausoleum of President Ho Chi Minh in Hanoi will reopen to the public from August 16 after an annual maintenance since June 13. HCMC key traffic infrastructure projects delayed for years over land clearance, fund issues
In 2016, Ho Chi Minh City drew up plans for a series of projects in the Tan Son Nhat International Airport area, an important traffic hub that connects with downtown areas of several districts like Tan Binh, Tan Phu and Go Vap. Among the projects were overpasses over the Truong Son Road, the Nguyen Thai Son-Nguyen Kiem intersection and expansion of the Hoang Minh Giam Road, which were all completed within three years and helped relieve traffic congestion in the area. But several other projects have suffered repeated delays, including a road to connect the major streets of Cong Hoa and Tran Quoc Hoan. This 4 km road with an investment of over VND4.8 trillion ($205.1 million), has been delayed by land clearance issues, mostly related to military land. About 15 km away, traffic at the Cat Lai Port area in Thu Duc City has also been a headache for years. (Photo: VNA) Hanoi (VNA) – Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on August 14 attended a conference reviewing the 30-year cooperation between the President Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum Management Board and the All-Russian Scientific Research Institute of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants (VILAR) in preserving the corpse of the late Vietnamese leader. In 1992, when the agreement between Vietnam and the former Soviet Union became invalid, with permission by the Vietnamese and Russian Governments, the Mausoleum Management Board and VILAR switched to direct cooperation in preserving the corpse of the President. Saigon street breathes after metro construction site cleared
A 800-meter section of Le Loi Street from Nguyen Hue Pedestrian Zone to Ben Thanh Market is cleared of barriers on Aug. 12. The street has been blocked since mid-2014 to build Ben Thanh Station, one of the three underground hubs of the Metro Line No.1. The station, at about 32 meters underground, has four floors with six entrances and is now more than 95 percent complete. The street has been resurfaced with 10 lanes. Barriers are removed from a 250-meter section near Ben Thanh Market. Workers repair the street in front of Ben Thanh Market. The city is also working on a plan to resume the roundabout in front of the market, one of its top tourist attractions and cultural icons.
