Da Nang seeks investment for $2 bln metro routes

March 3, 2021 by e.vnexpress.net

The two metro lines that will connect downtown areas are among 57 major infrastructure projects that city authorities are calling for investment for the 2020-2025 period.

The city envisages both routes being built under the public-private partnership (PPP) investment form.

The east-west route would run from Nam O 1 residential area in Lien Chieu District through downtown areas to My Khe Beach in Son Tra District, while the south-north route will connect the Son Tra Tinh Vien nature reserve on Son Tra Peninsula, areas around the Da Nang Airport and the Khue Trung area in Cam Le District.

The city also called for investors to build an electric metro train project connecting with the neighboring Hoi An Town, a famous tourist hotspot in Quang Nam Province. This project carries an estimated value of VND7.49 trillion to VND14.99 trillion.

Another project is a 3.7-kilometer tunnel at the Da Nang Airport with six lanes that requires a total investment of VND8.2 trillion. The project’s investment will be raised from the city’s budget, official development assistance (ODA) and the PPP model.

The city of 1.1 million also seeks investment for the Lien Chieu Port, which is expected to use VND3.4 trillion from the state budget and VND3.9 trillion from the private sector.

The 220-hectare port, expected to spearhead Da Nang’s logistics development, will be built below Hai Van Pass in central Vietnam.

City authorities are also seeking investors for other major projects like the 500-bed international standard oncology treatment center at VND11 trillion, the VND5-trillion Opera House, a VND3 trillion waste treatment plant worth up to VND3 trillion and VND4.5 trillion horse racing.

Da Nang, the urban hub of central Vietnam and a popular tourism hotspot, is considered the country’s third most important city after Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.

Hanoi is so beautiful with East-West, modern-classic interwoven architecture

December 30, 2020 by hanoitimes.vn

The Hanoitimes – Hanoi is gorgeous and charming with its East-West architecture. Today, the emergence of modern architectural constructions has contributed to forming a dreamy and dynamic Hanoi.

Tubular house was the most popular type in the city, with the narrow width, a few tens of metres deep. If the owners are well-off, they would build two or three floors more. Then, influenced by French architecture, engineers began to use steel bending or embossing with cement and plaster to reduce the roughness of concrete blocks in home décor.

Modern architecture is a trend to use new, versatile technologies and materials. In the past, people often used wood, black steel, baked tile… to make structure, pillars and roofs. Nowadays, when metal technology develops, rust-proof super light-plated steel has replaced black steel and wood; unburnt tile has been used instead of baked tile.

In the past ten years, Hanoi’s architectural situation has required professional architects to make a changey, as soon as possible, the local architecture shouldt be exposed to the architecture of developed countries and other countries in the region. Hanoi architecture is facing big changes of a key moment, that needs to be a breakthrough in quality as well as in quantity. So each architect has to share the thought and contribution to the that breakthrough. The social and communal characters of Hanoi architecture are posing new requirements. We have a responsibility to strive for a sustainable, orderly, pure, humane, visually-efficient architecture.

When the country is liberated and united, the hearts of millions of Vietnamese people will always head towards Ba Dinh Square and Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum. This is a sacred place that every Vietnamese and international friends want to visit.

Hanoi Opera House was built by the French in 1901 and completed in 1911 following the model of the Garnier Opera House in Paris (France). Today, the Opera House is one of the familiar, outstanding and attractive places of Hanoi City, a place where special cultural and performing arts are regularly held.

Long Bien Bridge was the first iron bridge spanning over the Red River, built by the French in 1899. During the war against the US, despite two major battles with many bombings, the bridge still stands firmly, defying the erosion of the time. Over the years, with prints of time, Long Bien Bridge is a historical evidence of a capital that has come out of war and has been developing more and more modernly.

Hanoi, HCMC mandate self-isolation for people from Hai Duong outbreak areas

March 3, 2021 by e.vnexpress.net

The Hanoi Health Department required people entering Hanoi from Hai Duong Town (the capital city of Hai Duong Province), Kim Mon Town, Kim Thanh and Cam Giang Districts to isolate themselves at home.

They also have to medically declare themselves and install Covid-19 contact tracing apps like Bluezone or NCOVI. Those who tested negative for the novel coronavirus within three days before leaving Hai Duong would not have to isolate themselves, it added.

Though Ho Chi Minh City no longer isolates those entering the city from Hai Duong at centralized quarantine zones, people coming from 16 Hai Duong locations where Covid-19 patients were recorded in the latest outbreak must still self-isolate, according to the HCMC Center for Disease Control (HCDC).

The 16 locations are Cong Hoa Ward, Van Duc Ward, Sao Do Town, An Lac Commune, Hung Dao Commune, Nam Tran Commune, Lai Cach Town, Tan Truong Commune, Cam Dien Commune, Luong Dien Commune, Thanh Binh Ward, Nhi Chau Ward, Kim Lien Commune, Kim Dinh Commune, Ke Sat Town and Thanh Lang Commune.

Northern Hai Duong Province, the epicenter of a recent coronavirus wave in Vietnam with 684 cases, ended 15 days of province-wide social distancing Wednesday.

But over 900 Covid-19 checkpoints were still active in the province, while certain areas with coronavirus outbreaks are still under lockdown, including Kim Dinh Commune with a population of over 7,400.

Vietnam has recorded 2,475 Covid-19 cases so far, with 538 still active.

Hanoi asked to enhance State management of culture

March 3, 2021 by en.nhandan.org.vn

He made the direction to the municipal Department of Culture and Sports in a March 3 meeting that reviewed its performance and discussed tasks for the time to come.

The Communist Party of Vietnam has described culture as the heart and spiritual underpinning of a society, he said, and it plays a prominent role in Hanoi, as the city has been dubbed the capital of a thousand years of civilisation, the city for peace, and the city of innovation.

He asked the department to follow the views and goals outlined in resolutions from the Party and the municipal Party Committee to support its decision-making and fulfil its mission.

The leader also requested the department promote digital transformation in culture and sports.

Hue moved on to say that the city has demanded a review of the land bank for parks and tree planting as well as space for installing outdoor sports facilities for public use. It will also financially support the construction of more than 280 cultural houses in villages, costing about VND3 billion (US$130,900) each, he said.

Districts and relevant units need to mobilise resources and closely coordinate with the city to complete these projects, while encouraging the involvement of society in maintaining and operating local cultural and historic relics, he said.

According to the municipal Department of Culture and Sports, the city has mobilised nearly VND1.55 trillion, including nearly VND468 billion sourced from society, to repair and restore 179 cultural and historic relics since the beginning of 2020.

Department Director Tran The Cuong said the department will continue to focus on its mission to develop Hanoi into the country’s cultural hub in the future.

A digital database on Thang Long – Hanoi’s culture will be established, while a strategy to develop the cultural sector in the city will be implemented, he added.
