COVID-19: Two foreigners among eight detected infections over 12 hours

All of them are imported cases returning from Ukraine, Turkey, Dubai (the United Arab Emirates), and Japan, and were placed in quarantine as soon as they arrived.

One of them, an Indian expert, 34, boarded flight QR970 from his home country to Ho Chi Minh City’s Tan Son Nhat International Airport on April 18.

Another patient, a Turkish woman, 31, also took flight TK6086 to fly to HCM City on April 14.

All the patients tested positive during their stay in the concentrated quarantine facilities, thus posing no risk to the community, said the MoH.

Vietnam has brought under control the recent coronavirus outbreak in the community after the virus recurred in Hai Duong province three months ago. No new locally transmitted cases have been detected during the past few weeks.

However, relevant agencies have constantly confirmed infections returning from epidemic hit countries like the US, Russia, Japan, the Republic of Korea, the Philippines and India.

Vietnam has so far recorded 2,824 coronavirus cases, including 2,490 recoveries.

The number of deaths caused vby COVID-19 and related illnesses remains at 35.

COVID-19: Four new imported cases bring national count to 2,816

All the latest cases are Vietnamese citizens who entered the nation from Japan, Singapore, and Russia.

In the morning the same day, two Indian experts and four Vietnamese nationals were also confirmed positive for the SARS-CoV-2 virus.

Among the country’s active patients, a total of 40 cases have since tested negative for the virus, with the majority of them recording several negative results.

As many as 39,191 individuals are currently in isolation undergoing medical monitoring across the nation.

At present, the country has seen 2,490 recoveries from the COVID-19 disease, while the death toll remaining unchanged at 35.

The Ministry reported that a total of 108,897 frontline workers nationwide have received the COVID-19 vaccine as of 4 p.m. on April 21.

Furthermore, to prepare for future COVID-19 vaccination campaigns, the Department of Health of the central highlands province Dak Lak have organised a training course aimed at ensuring safety during the vaccination process for 90 healthcare workers based in the locality.

Nguyen Trung Thanh, deputy director of the provincial Department of Health, said that Dak Lak has so far received 15,700 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine, with the province set to launch its inoculation scheme from April 27 to May 7. This will involve three priority groups, including people working at healthcare facilities and those involved in pandemic prevention and control across the province.

Meanwhile Can Tho International Airport welcomed two flights on April 21 which brought back Vietnamese citizens from Taiwan (China), with the group quarantined in line with regulations set out the Ministry of Health.

Da Nang field hospital dissolved after completing COVID-19 mission

The Hoa Vang field hospital was originally founded on July 31 with the aim of offering treatment to patients who test positive for the novel coronavirus. Indeed, the site was the first field hospital launched in the central city of Da Nang after the virus resurged in the locality on July 25.

Along with the Da Nang Hospital for Lung Diseases, the Hoa Vang field hospital served as a key treatment destination for positive COVID-19 patients from the city, many of whom were suffering from other underlying health issues such as chronic renal failure, hypertension, diabetes and multi-organ failure.

At the height of the outbreak, the Da Nang Department of Health also ordered local hospitals and healthcare centres to send doctors, nurses, and medical workers to the site. Most notably, doctors from Hanoi’s Bach Mai Hospital and Ho Chi Minh City’s Cho Ray Hospital were also dispatched to support their colleagues at the field hospital.

During its run, the hospital has treated over 250 positive COVID-19 cases simultaneously. The last patient was discharged on September 23.

At present, Da Nang has gone 33 days free of locally transmitted cases.

Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam recorded five new cases of COVID-19 in the past 12 hours to 6pm on April 21, raising the national count to 2,806, according to the Health Ministry.

All the new infections are Vietnamese nationals who were put into quarantine in Khanh Hoa province and Da Nang city right upon their arrival.

According to the ministry’s Medical Examination and Treatment Department, as many as 2,490 cases have been given the all-clear so far, while the death toll remained at 35.

Among those still under treatment, 12 have tested negative for the novel coronavirus, 11 twice and 17 thrice.

Meanwhile, 39,385 people are under quarantine nationwide, including 514 at hospitals, 23,870 at concentrated quarantine facilities and 14,991 at their residences./.

Kien Giang receives support in COVID-19 prevention

On April 19, at the request of the Ministry of Health, a mobile team consisting of 13 medical staff from the Ho Chi Minh City-based Cho Ray Hospital set out to support Kien Giang in COVID-19 prevention and control. The team will coordinate with the local authorities and concerned units for emergency construction of two field hospitals in the cities of Ha Tien and Rach Gia, as well as an ICU with sufficient equipment to support treatment for critically ill patients stationed at Ha Tien General Hospital, which is defined as the local frontline unit in receiving, caring for and treating COVID-19 patients.

In addition, in order to take initiative in planning, improving treatment capacity and efficiency, and being ready to respond to any epidemic situations in Kien Giang, the ministry has assigned Cho Ray Hospital to coordinate with the locality to build options for establishing treatment venues that can accommodate severe to very critical cases, as well as providing training and guidance to help the local health sector master difficult techniques in emergency resuscitation.

On April 19, a number of localities continued to inject, train and receive batches of vaccines against COVID-19. Phu Yen Province started vaccination in nine districts, towns and cities, with the first round taking place from April 19 to 26, in which 3,000 doses are to be given first to forces directly involved in the prevention and control of COVID-19. In addition to the 5,600 doses allocated by the Ministry of Health previously, Phu Yen has also been allocated an additional 950 doses for the police and border guards on duty in isolation camps and medical checkpoints.

Ho Chi Minh City has organised the 1st COVID-19 vaccination drive for 8,872 people directly involved in the prevention and control of COVID-19, including employees from 71 medical facilities and staff from concentrated camps in the city. On April 19, the city started the second injection campaign with the first injection held at District 1 Hospital. With 56,250 doses provided by the Ministry of Health for the second stage, the city will organise vaccination for health care workers who received the first shot in the first round, people working in medical facilities who have not been vaccinated and staff working at Tan Son Nhat International Airport who have contact with passengers and incoming goods. They are at high risk of COVID-19 infection and works in key facilities and units that need the highest security against COVID-19 to prevent it from entering and spreading into the community.

On the same day, the Mekong Delta province of Vinh Long received 5,600 doses of COVID-19 vaccines provided by the Vietnam Vaccine Joint Stock Company according to the allocation plan from the Ministry of Health for vaccination in phase 2, which is scheduled to commence from today, April 20.

Vietnam has four new imported Covid-19 cases

HCMC – Four fresh imported Covid-19 cases in Hanoi, Danang and Phu Yen raised the country’s tally to 2,816 tonight, April 22, according to the Ministry of Health (MOH).

The latest Covid-19 case reported in Hanoi City is a man residing in Can Tho City who returned to Vietnam from Singapore through Noi Bai International Airport on April 17. The man tested positive for Covid-19 on April 21 and is being treated at the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases.

Two other patients, a woman and a man, were quarantined in Danang City after their arrival from Russia on April 21. The residents of Thai Binh and Thanh Hoa provinces tested positive for Covid-19 on the same day. They are receiving treatment at the Danang Lung Hospital.

The remaining one Covid-19 case in Phu Yen Province is a resident of Hanoi City. After entering the country from Japan through Cam Ranh International Airport in Khanh Hoa Province on April 16, the man was put under quarantine in Phu Yen Province. His positive test result came out on April 22.

As many as 2,490 patients have made a full recovery from the disease, while 40 active patients have tested negative for the virus one to three times.
