One death from COVID-19 was recorded in the past 24 hours. The total fatalities stood at 43,096. Seafood producers eye record profit yet face mounting challenges
Vinh Hoan Corporation (VHC), one of the top producers and exporters of basa fish in the country, raked in more than $34.2 million in the second quarter of this year, triple compared to one year ago, setting a record since the company came on the bourse in the fourth quarter of 2007. This means VHC has fulfilled nearly 84 per cent of the year's profit plan just after six months. Similarly, Sao Ta Food JSC also eyed a record quarterly profit since going on the bourse in the fourth quarter of 2006. Along with this, the company counted more than $5.13 million in post-tax profit in Q2, showing a 30 per cent jump on-year. Torrential rain causes traffic chaos, flooding in HCMC
According to Le Dinh Quyet, Deputy Head of the Office of the Southern Region’s Hydrology Meteorology Forecasting Station, the downpour lasted for over three hours causing traffic chaos and submerged streets under the influences of a low-pressure trough connecting with a low cyclone in the eastern Philippines along with intensifying of the southwest monsoon. It is expected that Ho Chi Minh City will continue to suffer from showers, and moderate to heavy rains from this evening throughout August 21. At nearly 5 p.m., many streets including Quoc Huong, Le Van Viet and Do Xuan Hop in Thu Duc City were submerged after rain. Vehicles lined up through the areas. Kien Giang, Ca Mau coordinate in combating IUU fishing

This move is expected to help develop responsible fisheries, and effectively and sustainably exploit aquatic resources on fishing grounds, towards having the European Commission 's warnings against IUU fishing removed in the two localities. Additional 1,695 new Covid-19 cases confirmed on Monday
The Vietnamese Ministry of Health on Monday reported an additional 1,695 Covid-19 infections, raising the country's total tally to over 11 million. On August 15, an additional 9,257 more patients recovered from the disease, raising the number of recoveries in the country to over 10.02 million. On Monday evening, no deaths from Covid-19 were recorded, the country's total fatalities stayed at 43,098, accounting for 0.4 per cent of total infections. Hung Yen’s industrial parks attract nearly 323 million USD

There were a total of 15 new projects and 23 existing ones with added capital. In July alone, the figures were four and two, respectively, with their total value topping 49.6 million USD. The board said it has regularly supported investors in running their projects and business operations.
