At the commendation ceremony (Photo: VNA) HCM City (VNA) – The level-two field hospital No.1 of the Vietnam People’s Army was honoured at a ceremony at Military Hospital 175 in Ho Chi Minh City on December 5, after it completed the peacekeeping mission at the UN mission in South Sudan. Addressing the ceremony, Standing Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh affirmed that participation in UN peacekeeping activities is a breakthrough step for Vietnam’s external policy, marking a change both qualitative and quantitative in multilateral cooperation in general and defence-security cooperation in particular. Deputy Defence Minister receives UK defence attachés

Nguyen Chi Vinh hosted a reception in Hanoi on October 14 for outgoing UK defence attaché Col. David Houghton and his successor Col. Beatrix V.H. Walcot. Vinh said Vietnam and the UK have fostered long-standing friendship and all-around cooperation, including in defence, especially since the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding on bilateral defence cooperation in November 2011. Cold snap moving south, reducing HCMC temperature to 20 degrees Celsius at night
Temperature reduced across the country on December 6. Specifically, it dropped to 11-12 degrees in Hanoi, 4-7 degrees in Ha Giang province, 4 degrees in Lai Chau, 3 degrees in Sa Pa district of Lao Cai province and 2 degrees in Mu Cang Chai district of Yen Bai province. Frost occurred in many places. HCMC saw it swing around 21 degrees early this morning. Temperature will drop to 20 degrees tonight. This cold wave is expeted to prolong in the next 8-9 days. The highest temperature will be 31 degrees in daytime. Many places in the Central Highlands have been cold with temperature dropping to 14-17 degrees. Russian man found dead, naked in central Vietnam’s resort
Vietnamese police are investigating the death of a 50-year-old Russian man who was found dead, naked in his room at the Malibu resort in south central Vietnam coast on Wednesday. The death of the foreigner, Suvorov Alexander, was discovered at 10 pm that day by a staffer at the Malibu resort in Mui Ne Ward, Phan Thiet City, Binh Thuan Province. As the foreigner stayed in his room all day long, the staffer called him to open the room door to visit him but received no response.
