Shares advance on first trading day of Lunar New Year

Blue chips continued to be the market engine as 22 stocks of the top 30 shares by market value and liquidity on the Ho Chi Minh City’s bourse gained value while only six declined. — Photo baodauthau.vn Shares opened the first trading day of the Lunar New Year on a positive note with both stock indices rising accompanied with good liquidity during Monday morning’s session. On the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange, the VN-Index advanced 1.13 per cent to close the morning trade at 918.97 points. On the Ha Noi Stock Exchange, the HNX-Index increased 0.95 per cent to end at 104.32 points. Nearly 80 million shares worth a combined VN1.5 trillion (US$65.3 million) changed hands on the two markets in the morning session. VN-Index advances on investor optimisim

More than 123.8 million shares were traded in the morning session, worth VND2.4 trillion (US$101.6 million). — VNA/VNS Photo The benchmark VN-Index on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange rose slightly on Thursday morning, driven by investor confidence in the stable movement of indices and positive condition of the global market. The benchmark VN-Index gained 0.24 per cent to end at 963.55 points. The southern bourse index had gained 0.70 per cent to close at 961.28 points in the previous session. The HNX-Index on the Ha Noi Stock Exchange fell 0.12 per cent to close at 107.55 points. The Ha Noi index had advanced 1.02 per cent to end at 107.68 points on Wednesday. More than 123.8 million shares were traded in the morning session, worth VND2.4 trillion (US$101.6 million). Foreign fast food giants defy losses in Vietnam

However, the financial statement of Lotteria showed that the fast food chain recorded after-tax losses were VND118 billion ($5.22 million) and VND135 billion ($6 million) in 2015 and 2016 respectively. By the end of 2016, Lotteria’s accumulated losses were more than VND413 billion ($18.27 million), while its charter capital reached only VND433 billion ($19.16 million), as reported by local media. In the meantime, Lotteria’s competitor, KFC also reported losses with a low profit margin at around 15 per cent in 2016. This was even lower in the previous year, at only 10 per cent. As a result, KFC lost VND25 billion ($1.1 million) in 2015 and made a profit of VND15 billion ($664,000) in 2016. VN stocks advance on positive market sentiment

Vietnamese shares advanced on Friday morning as investor sentiment improved after global stocks traded positively overnight on Thursday. — Photo tinnhanhchungkhoan.vn Vietnamese shares climbed on Friday morning as good investor confidence drove up the performance of banks, financial firms and real estate companies. The benchmark VN-Index on the HCM Stock Exchange was up 1.22 per cent to close at 909.51 points. It rose 0.6 per cent on Thursday. The HNX Index on the Ha Noi Stock Exchange added 1.90 per cent to end at 102.35 points, extending its growth for a second session. Market trading liquidity remained low with more than 96 million shares being traded on the two local exchanges, worth VND1.74 trillion (US$77.5 million). Nasdaq jumps 1.4% to close at new record ahead of big US earnings
