Ngan thanked the EP leader for his contributions to the strengthened partnership between Vietnam and the European Union, as well as between the Vietnamese NA and the EP. She expressed her belief that Tajani will continue playing a key role in the promotion of ties between the EP and Vietnam in the future. With his strong confidence that more European investment will enter Vietnam thanks to the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA) Bruno Angelet, Ambassador and head of the European Union Delegation to Vietnam, told VIR that Vietnam has and will continue being a very good location for European investors. “European investors remain quite optimistic about conducting business in Vietnam, where they see great potential,” he said. “The EU can offer investment in hi-tech, environmentally-friendly and less energy-consuming sectors. Vietnam, Japan look to foster trade cooperation A workshop was held in Tokyo on October 22 to discuss measures to promote economic and trade cooperation between Vietnam and Japan. Held by the Department of Trade Promotion (DTP) under the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Japan-ASEAN centre, the event attracted representatives from more than 100 Japanese and 25 Vietnamese enterprises operating in handicrafts, mechanics, plastic, home furniture and gifts. Speaking at the workshop, Doan Thi Thu Thuy, Deputy General Director of the DTP said Vietnamese goods are present in most markets around the world, and exports are shifting from raw materials to products with higher value such as electronics and smart phones. Mitsubishi plans to make electric cars in Viet Nam Japan’s Mitsubishi Corporation plans to invest in an electric automobile manufacturing factory in Viet Nam, said Executive Vice President Hiroshi Sakuma during a meeting with Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister Vuong Dinh Hue in Ha Noi on Wednesday. At the meeting, Sakuma said his firm was evaluating the feasibility of the project and look forward to new regulations on environmental protection taxes to promote investment in the country. Hue said Viet Nam’s National Assembly would soon discuss and pass the Law on Environmental Protection Tax. There would be incentives commensurate with environmentally friendly products.
