Entry tickets to the UNESCO World Heritage site Ha Long Bay will return to their former rates set before the Covid-19 pandemic from July 1. Tourist boats on Ha Long Bay The northern province of Quang Ninh offered half-priced entry tickets to Ha Long Bay and other tourist sites in the area during the first half of 2022 in an attempt to promote tourism activities after the Covid-19 pandemic. As the promotion period ends on June 30, tickets for daily tours to Ha Long Bay will cost between VND200,000- 250,000 per visitor from July 1. Visitors who stay overnight on the bay will pay between VND 500,000-750,000 each. Ha Long Bay has witnessed a recovery in tourist numbers after the Covid-19 pandemic. UOB forecasts 6.5 percent GDP growth for Vietnam despite global uncertainty
Singaporean-based United Overseas Bank (UOB) maintained its forecast for Vietnam’s gross domestic product (GDP) growth at 6.5 percent this year despite global uncertainty brought about by the conflict in Ukraine and soaring commodity prices. UOB recently released its report on the economic growth of markets around the world, including Vietnam. The report pegged its forecast for Vietnam’s GDP growth at 6.5 percent and core inflation rate at 3.7 percent this year. UOB’s forecast for the country’s GDP growth is in line with the Vietnamese government’s goal of hitting a 6-6.5 percent economic expansion for 2022. The bank's report predicted that the country’s GDP growth will reach 7.6 percent in the third quarter of this year. Vietnam hosts flash flood guidance system in Southeast Asia
Vietnam officially launched the Southeast Asia Flash Flood Guidance System (SEAFFGS) on Tuesday and assumed the leading role in forecasting landslides and flash floods in the region. The World Meteorological Organization (WMO) and the Vietnam Meteorological and Hydrological Administration (VNMHA) held a conference on the same day to announce the SEAFFGS operation. The project aims to provide forecasts and early warnings for member countries in Southeast Asia, including Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, and Thailand, with a fund of US$1.3 million from the Canadian government. The SEAFFGS uses a new and modern technology model, designed by the WMO, with the participation of countries such as the United States, Canada, and Southeast Asian states. Storm Chaba poses no more danger to Vietnam’s northeast as it makes landfall
It made landfall along the coast of Maoming City in China's Guangdong Province at around 3 p.m. Saturday, Chinese newspapers reported. At 4 p.m. it lay centered around 320 kilometers to the east of Quang Ninh Province, home to Ha Long Bay, with a maximum wind speed of 117 kph, according to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting. It will move northwest at a speed of 10-15 kph and is expected to weak into a tropical depression by Sunday morning with winds decreasing to 61 kph. Vietnam’s northeastern region should expect rains of 40-80 mm, and more than 100 mm in some places, between Saturday evening and Sunday. A day earlier weather experts had expected the region to be hit by torrential downpours of up to 150-350 mm a day. Rainfall of 180 mm a day is considered heavy. Tourism authorities in An Giang Province are exploring ways to include trekking in the Bay Nui Mountain region – a new hotspot for trekkers from across Vietnam – in its tourism strategy. Bay Nui (Seven Mountains) is a range of small mountains located in Tri Ton and Tinh Bien Districts, An Giang Province, near the border with Cambodia. At 716 meters above sea level and 7,500 meters in diameter, Cam Mountain is the largest in the Bay Nui mountain range. The Cam Mountain Tourist Site Management Board and the An Giang Trade and Investment Promotion Center are working together to develop and test sports tourism in the Bay Nui area, which they hope will attract visitors looking for tours that involve walking, sightseeing, and enjoying local cuisine.
