Sơn La's mangoes and longans are being sold in Big C Thăng Long supermarket, Hà Nội. — VNS Photo Mai Hương HÀ NỘI — Mangoes and safe agricultural products from Sơn La Province are being introduced at Big C Thăng Long supermarket in Hà Nội. The week-long event, organised by Sơn La Provincial People’s Committee in collaboration with Central Retail Vietnam, is an effort to promote high-quality provincial products to the capital city’s consumers. The event has attracted 15 businesses and cooperatives, introducing both fresh fruits and vegetables such as mango, longan, avocado, guava, banana, Mộc Châu pumpkin, cabbage and zucchini to processed foods. These products all meet food safety standards such as VietGAP, GolbalGAP and organic certification. Visitors to Phu Quoc surge in June
At a beach in Phu Quoc (Photo: VNA) Kien Giang (VNA) – The number of visitor s to the resort island of Phu Quoc, the southern province of Kien Giang, surge d strongly in June, with around 140 flights and over 40 ferries and boats carrying tens of thousands of tourists to and from the island each day. Phu Quoc has more than 700 accommodation facilities with over 24,000 rooms, but with the large number of travellers, many are filled to capacity. Phu Quoc authorities said the island received an estimated 1.4 million visitors in the first six months of this year, including 46,200 foreigners. Revenues from tourism shot up 46 percent year on year to top 2.84 trillion VND (122 million USD). The island is home to 284 investment projects in tourism development, covering 9,619 hectares of land, with total investment capital of nearly 352.2 trillion VND. Hanoi welcomes over 8.6 million visitors in first half of 2022
The result comes from the fact that Hanoi authorities made good use of opportunities such as the 31st Southeast Asian Games. Hanoi’s tourism sector welcomed 8.61 million visitors in the first six months of 2022, an increase of nearly three times year-on-year, according to the municipal Department of Tourism. The arrival number is estimated to hit 211 thousand while that of domestic tourists is around 8.4 million visitors. Total revenue from tourism is estimated at VND25.2 trillion (around US$1 billion), up more than three times compared to the same period in 2021. The average room occupancy in hotels rated with stars is estimated at more than 30%, an increase of 6.11% year on year. In June alone, room occupancy is around 42.9%, down 2.3% compared to May but up 17.2% over the same period in 2021.
