Sotheby’s presents its first exhibition in Vietnam

Over 50 works by modern Vietnamese masters from the early generation of École des Beaux-Arts de l'Indochine (Indochina School of Fine Arts) will be showcased at Sotheby’s first exhibition in Vietnam - Timeless Souls: Beyond the Voyage – Hồn Xưa Bến Lạ. As well as the first exhibition in the country held by the leading arts brokers in the world, the public event is also one of the largest Indochine Art exhibitions ever staged in the country. Taking place from July 11–14 at Park Hyatt Saigon, HCM City, the non-selling exhibition features over 50 works by Lê Thị Lựu (1911 – 1988), Lê Phổ (1907 – 2001), Mai Trung Thứ (1906 – 1980) and Vũ Cao Đàm (1908 – 2000), the four renowned early generation graduates from the École des Beaux-Arts de l'Indochine, who migrated to France in early 20th century. Additional 913 new Covid-19 infections reported on Wednesday

The Vietnamese Ministry of Health on Wednesday reported an additional 913 Covid-19 infections, raising the country's total tally to over 10.75 million. Illustrative photo According to the ministry's report, most of the new patients are locally-transmitted cases confirmed in 42 out of 63 localities in the country. As of Wednesday evening, the number of Covid-19 patients in Vietnam has increased to over 10.75 million. On July 6, an additional 7,626 more patients recovered from the disease, raising the number of recoveries in the country to over 9.73 million. On Wednesday evening, no deaths related to Covid-19 were recorded, the country's total fatalities stay at 43,089, accounting for 0.4 per cent of total infections. By July 5, Vietnam had injected more than 234 million doses of Covid-19 vaccines, including over 8.85 million given to children aged 5 to 11. PV Power’s first-half post-tax profit nears 1.16 trillion VND

At the PVPower's Nhon Trach 2 thermal power plant (Photo: VNA) Hanoi (VNA) - PetroVietnam Power Corporation (PV Power) reported a post-tax profit of 1.159 trillion VND (over 49.56 million USD) in the first six months of 2022, surpassing the target set for the entire year by 56%. This year, PV Power 's profit plan has been adjusted down from its previously announced level. Therefore, its first-half post-tax profit , despite representing an annual decrease of 19%, still exceeded the yearly goal. Also in the period, its electricity output reached 7.1 billion kWh, reducing by 25% year-on-year. Nguyen Dinh Thi, head of PV Power's economic planning department, said that with such output decrease, the company’s revenue amounted to 14.865 trillion VND, equaling 61.3% of the yearly plan but down 5% compared to the same previous last year. Vietnamese ride-hailing app for smartphones launched
