The index started off in the green but gradually declined throughout the day and closed with a near 11-point drop, marking its third straight losing session. It has closed lower in six out of nine recent sessions, losing over 194 points this month. Trading on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange, on which the index is based, fell by 28.4 percent to VND14.58 trillion ($631.3 million). The VN-30 basket, comprising the 30 largest capped stocks, saw 16 tickers gain, led by SSI of leading brokerage SSI Securities with a 5.8 percent rise. It was followed by PLX of fuel distributor Petrolimex, up 4.7 percent, and VRE of Vingroup's mall operator subsidiary Vincom Retail, up 3.8 percent. As Vietnam reopens its borders to tourism, attracting, developing and retaining a quality workforce has become the top priority for this industry. With borders reopened and tourism promotion campaigns launched in Vietnam, hotels, tour operators and ancillary service providers across the country might be facing a major problem: shortage of qualified labor. Dr Nuno F. Ribeiro, RMIT University Vietnam During the worst period of the pandemic in 2020-2021, many tourism organizations had to reduce their (experienced) workforce. A report by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism revealed that tourism businesses cut staff by 70-80% in 2020. In 2021, the number of full-time tourism employees was down to 25% of the 2020 level, and about 30% quit their jobs or had their contracts terminated. Each account created on the website digiticket.vn , authorised by the Games’ Organising Committee, is permitted to purchase no more than two tickets whose prices range from 300,000 VND (13 USD) to 500,000 VND. The match is to take place at the 40,000-seat National My Dinh Stadium in Hanoi on May 22. Apart from the 20,000 tickets, the Organising Board has also issued 20,000 invitation cards. NA chairman calls for labor cooperation between Vietnam, Laos
In a meeting with the Vietnamese community and businesses in Laos, per invitation of President of the Laotian National Assembly Saysomphone Phomvihane, various representatives said they wish for the Vietnamese government to continue actualizing policies so that commerce between the two countries could prosper. They also proposed for both Vietnam and Laos to foster labor cooperation and increase the number of yearly scholarships so Vietnamese nationals in Laos could go to Vietnam to study and receive medical diagnoses. Hue said Vietnam always encourages and provides opportunities for people to return to their country and invest in businesses.
