Nearly 40,000 public employees quit their jobs across Vietnam between 2020 and June 2022, Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Nguyen Duy Thang said at a regular press meeting of the government on Saturday. Reports from 28 central agencies and authorities in 63 provinces and cities showed that a total of 39,552 officials, civil servants, and public employees resigned during the 30-month period from 2020 to mid-2022, Thang elaborated. This number accounted for nearly two percent of the total number of long-term staff at these agencies. Among them, more than 16,000 worked in the education sector and 12,000 in healthcare. Thang attributed the resignation to the stressful tasks and low income in the education and health sectors.
