Samsung concludes third training course for Vietnamese consultants Samsung Vietnam and the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT) rounded off its third training course for Vietnamese consultants in the supporting industry with a ceremony in Ho Chi Minh City on October 19. Speaking at the ceremony, Truong Thanh Hoai, Director of the MoIT’s Heavy Industries Department, pointed out some of the industry’s weak points in terms of competitiveness and spare parts materials, attributing them to the limited management and investment capacity of local companies. He said the Government and other relevant ministries have issued many policies to support the growth of the sector, adding that Samsung’s courses are an important part of such efforts. Masan takes full ownership of tungsten processing facility Masan Resources Corporation (UPCoM: MSR), one of the world’s largest integrated industrial tungsten mineral and chemical producers, announced that Nui Phao Mining Company Ltd. (NPMC), a wholly-owned subsidiary of the company, has acquired H.C.Starck GmBH’s (HCS) 49 per cent stake in Nui Phao-H.C.Starck Tungsten Chemicals Manufacturing LLC (NHTCM) for the total cash consideration of $29.1 million, and now owns 100 per cent of this company. NHTCM, previously a joint venture between NPMC and HCS, was established in 2013 and is a leading producer and global supplier of tungsten chemicals (ammonium paratungstate [APT], blue tungsten oxide [BTO], and yellow tungsten oxide [YTO]). The harnessing of electricity and mass production sparked the second, around the start of the 20th century. The computer set the third in motion after World War II. It may seem too soon to proclaim that the fourth industrial revolution, spurred by interconnected digital technology, is upon us, but Mr. Henning Kagermann, Head of the German National Academy of Science and Engineering, did exactly that in 2011, when he used the term Industry 4.0 to describe a proposed government-sponsored industrial initiative.
