Malaysian Minister of Finance Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz (Photo: Bernama) Kuala Lumpur  (VNA) -  The total amount of subsidies for Malaysian people is expected to reach near 80 billion RM (nearly 20 billion USD) in 2022, according to Malaysian Minister of Finance Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz. In the 100th People’s Financial Report released on June 27, the minister said to reduce inflationary pressures on the people, the government has provided various consumption subsidies consisting of petrol, diesel, liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), cooking oil, flour and electricity. The projected consumption subsidies expenditure for 2022 is the highest amount of subsidies in history ever borne by any government, he added. (Photo: VNA) Hanoi (VNA) – The State Bank of Vietnam set the daily reference exchange rate for the US dollar at 23,110 VND/USD on June 30, up 11 VND from the previous day. With the current trading band of  +/-3 percent, the ceiling rate applicable to commercial banks during the day is 23,803 VND/USD and the floor rate 22,416 VND/USD. The opening-hour rates at some commercial banks saw increases. At 8:35am, Vietcombank listed the rates at 23,095 VND/USD (buying) and 23,405 VND/USD (selling), both up 5 VND from June 29. Accordingly, a new decree, coded 38/2022/ND-CP, on raising the regional minimum wage for labourers will come into effect on July 1. The 6 percent increase is equivalent to a rise of 260,000 VND (11.20 USD) in Region 1, and 240,000 VND, 210,000 VND, and 180,000 VND in Regions 2, 3, and 4, respectively. The document to this effect also specifies that the minimum hourly wage will range from 15,600 to 22,500 VND, which also depends on the region.
