Statistics of the Import-Export Department under the Ministry of Industry and Trade showed that cashew exports were estimated at 294,000 tonnes, worth US$1.76 billion in January-July, dropping by 10.5 per cent in volume and 12.1 per cent in value against the same period last year. While the average export price increased by 1.45 per cent against the same period last year to $5,792 per tonne, the price of raw cashews rose by 15-20 per cent. Tra Vinh nurtures private sector to kickstart economy
In the first half of this year, Tra Vinh province has issued registration certificates to 250 businesses. Among which, there are 165 one-member limited liability companies; 45 multi-member limited liability companies; 20 private enterprises; 20 joint stock companies; and 151 affiliated units. The overall amount of registered capital hit around $169 million, and the total number of registered personnel reached nearly 3,800 individuals. There are just under 3,000 active businesses with a total capitalisation of $2.1 billion and nearly 90,800 workers. Some 44 of those businesses are foreign-invested firms. In addition, almost 500 firms and affiliated units were registered for expanded business lines, capital, and other adjustments, increasing the total extra capital to $143 million. PAN’s refresher course on journalism knowledge opened in Central and Central Highlands region
The event was attended by the PAN’s Managing Editor Senior Colonel Le Ngoc Long and Deputy Political Commissar of Military Region 5 (MR5) Senior Colonel Nguyen Ba Hung, together with representatives of the PAN, and 51 trainees who are political officers and PAN’s collaborators in military units in the Central and Central Highlands region. Addressing the event, Senior Colonel Long recalled heroic traditions of the PAN, while affirming the importance of the course which helps raising the quantity and quality of reporters in the military. This is an occasion for trainees to raise their journalism knowledge and competence. The proliferation of pageants in the country has become a recent topic of discussion/debate. People say that the sheer number of competitions has caused a drop in both the quality of the candidates and entertainment value. Comparisons have even been made to Thi No, a literary character famous for being the polar opposite of beauty in Nam Cao's "Chi Pheo." Over the years, I have come to believe firmly that today’s beauty contests, not just in Vietnam, are inherently flawed. While the concept of beauty pageants has existed for millennia in both the East and the West (known through the Greek myth "Judgment of Paris"), modern beauty pageants as we know them only truly began in America during the early 20th century.
