Japan will give post-COVID-19 support to over 100 overseas Japanese-invested projects, including more than 40 in Vietnam, but the Southeast Asian country needs to overcome certain challenges facing them, a Japanese trade official said. Nobuyuki Matsumoto, chief representative of the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO)’s Ho Chi Minh City Office, released the information at a press briefing held recently at the twin launch of the upcoming METALEX Vietnam Exhibition and Supporting Industry Exhibition 2022 in October this year. Under the pilot project, post offices are to process a number of district-level administrative procedures in Ha Long. The project aims to further improve the quality of service to the people, making it easy for them in carrying out administrative procedures, helping reduce the time for travel and minimise bureaucracy and negativity among officials and civil servants. Delivering a report on the explanation, acquisition and revision of the draft law, Chairman of the N.A.’s Committee for Economic Affairs Vu Hong Thanh said that many have suggested adding midstream and downstream oil and gas exploration and exploitation activities to the scope of the amendment of the draft law. Thanh said that upstream oil and gas exploration and exploitation activities are closely linked with the fields of defense, security and foreign affairs. The AQUAM project delivers mangrove environment monitoring stations in critical water points in Ca Mau province. The monitoring stations operate on solar energy. Data gathered by the stations in combination with satellite images will be the input of environmental reports for all stakeholders. The project, funded by Australia’s Aus4Innovation program, was wrapped up on Tuesday in a workshop attended by local provincial authorities and representatives from the Australian Embassy. The AQUAM project, jointly developed and implemented by the University of Queensland and Green Field Consulting & Development Company, in close collaboration with Nam Song Hau Fishery Research Sub-Institute and Ca Mau Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, has installed 15 wireless environmental monitoring stations using IoT (Internet of Things) technology to monitor the health of the mangrove ecosystem.
