Trung’s bicycle operates with two sources of energy – solar energy and energy from electromagnetic induction. He said this is the first vehicle in Vietnam running with two kinds of energy. Solar energy is the most commonly used source of renewable energy. It allows a vehicle to run without maintenance and noise. The energy from electromagnetic induction acts as an electricity generator to charge the vehicle when running to offset the consumed energy. The retail electricity price has increased by 6.08 percent Southeast Asia Energy Outlook 2017 commented that the price in Vietnam is relatively low compared with other regional countries. The report says the state is still indirectly subsidizing electricity production, so the electricity price doesn’t truly reflect production costs. Earth Hour logo (Source: Internet) Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam saved 485,000 kWh of electricity, equivalent to 834 million VND (36,612 USD), during the Earth Hour from 8:30pm-9:30pm of March 24, according to the National Load Dispatch Centre. During the hour, many people from 63 provinces and cities nationwide switched off unnecessary electrical devices. This year’s figure represented a slight rise against the 471,000 kWh of electricity saved during the Earth Hour 2017. Two models of electric car and a small sedan from Ital Design have been voted the favourite by Vietnamese people in a contest organised by Vingroup. Titled “Choosing lovely car with VinFast-2”, the contest was organised by VinFast Manufacturing and Trading Company Limited from March 8-18. Nearly 300,000 people took part in the contest. Electric car IDG EV A and small sedan IDG ICE A were the top models, with 22.8 per cent and 21 per cent votes, respectively, out of 36 models, thanks to their fashionable style. The overall design closely resembles the design of electric vehicles and small cars around the world, while some models incorporate subtle Oriental symbols, such as bird wings or flaming eyes with fire inside. The trade fair, held every two years, is a major and important event for the electricity sector in India. This year, it attracted 1,500 companies and organisations from more than 60 countries and territories, showcasing electrical products, machinery and manufacturing techniques, renewable energy technologies, and services.
