Military press and publishing work reviewed

The main report of the conference pointed out that in the first quarter of 2018, the management and dissemination of information of the military press and publishing sector were implemented in accordance with plans and regulations, meeting the requirements in both quality and dissemination orientation. Press agencies in the military embraced the instruction of the Central Commission for Information and Education and the GDP, focusing on covering defense-military activities, military foreign affairs in a timely manner.

Addressing the conference, Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Trong Nghia hailed the task accomplishment of the sector over the past time and gave orientation for the work in the second quarter. Accordingly, the sector is to focus on covering information related to defense-military activities of units in the whole military, search and rescue in support of civilians during natural disasters, combat against “peaceful evolution” tricks and plots of the hostile forces and more.

The general stressed that units should provide more favorable conditions for non-military press agencies to disseminate information related to defense-military activities.

Hanoi strengthens cooperation with Capitals of North European countries

At the meeting, the two sides exchanged views on business cooperation between Nordic enterprises operating in Hanoi and the possibility of establishing relations between Hanoi and the capitals of Nordic countries.

Speaking at the meeting, Chairman of the Hanoi municipal People’s Committee Chu Ngoc Anh affirmed that Hanoi always welcomes Nordic businesses to explore its investment environment and expand upon business opportunities in the city.

As a national political-administrative hub, a major centre of culture, science, education, economics and international transactions, Hanoi is aiming to become a “green-smart-modern” city by 2030, has said, adding that the city is also promoting technology, science and innovation; as well as addressing traffic, urban andmedical issues.

The city encourages Nordic enterprises to expand their business in Hanoi in high-potential sectors such as investment-trade-tourism promotion, smart city, e-government, green technology, energy and sustainable development, technology transfer, labour cooperation, human resources development and cultural exchange.

According to the Vice President of the Nordic Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam Quist Thomasen, Nordic companies are developing their strengths in areas such as Smart and Green cities, renewable energy and sustainable development.

For his part, NordCham Vietnam Chairman Quist Thomasen said he hoped to understand the needs and vision of Hanoi city, while at the same time introducing experiences of Nordic countries to contribute to the overall development of Hanoi.

Seventh Japan-Vietnam Festival opens in Ho Chi Minh City

Addressing the opening ceremony, Vice Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Vo Van Hoan said he believes that the event will bolster understanding between the countries, and create more cooperation chances in education, trade, investment and tourism.

Japan is the third largest trade partner of Ho Chi Minh City and the fifth leading investor of the city. The southern hub has formed ties with seven Japanese localities.

Takebe Tsutomu, head of the organising board on the Japanese side said the holding of the JVF after a suspension of more than one year demonstrated efforts by both countries in promoting the bilateral relations. The 7th JVF is a major cooperative project of the countries’ tourism sector.

The two-day event features more than 100 booths of 75 units. Art programmes and sporting events will be staged by artists from both countries.
