The donation was initiated by the Vietnamese Ambassador to Germany, Nguyen Minh Vu, the European Chamber of Commerce and the German Business Association in Viet Nam. The medical equipment valued at US$350,000 was handed over to the Vietnam Fatherland Front, who were representing the People's Committee of HCM City, on Tuesday. Despite the negative impacts of COVID-19 on some major ports in the southern region, the total volume of container cargo going through seaports maintained a double-digit growth rate of 15 percent compared to the same period last year to near 18.6 million TEUs. A delivery of 852,480 AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine doses has arrived in Hanoi on September 16. This is a contribution from Germany towards the Vietnamese vaccination campaign. Hanoians were allowed to do outdoor exercises as of today after two months and a half. On Sept 28, Vietnam reported 4,589 coronavirus infections, the record low in the two months and a half. Today is the first day that the number of infections is one-fifth of the recovered. Ho Chi Minh City saw 377 cases, compared to 4,134 detected yesterday. So far, the country has 191,000 active cases, including nearly 19,000 deaths. Binh Duong has taken the lead with more than 206,000, or 8,410 cases per 100,000 residents, followed by Ho Chi Minh City with 4,162/100,000 residents, and Long An 1,896/100,000. Regarding vaccination, more than 40 million doses have been administered, including nearly nine million people fully vaccinated in Vietnam. The US market is home to 332 million customers with high per capita income, with fruit and vegetables being a rising trend, it said. Data from the Vietnam Fruit and Vegetable Association showed that fruit and vegetable exports were worth over 2.06 billion USD in the first half of this year, a year-on-year increase of 17.4 percent.
