Huyen, the 2019 World Cup gold medalist, lifted 73 kg in the snatch and 92 kg in the clean and jerk categories, and claimed another gold for lifting a total of 168kg in the women’s 45kg division. Her teammate, Khong My Phuong, lifted 70kg and bagged a bronze medal in the snatch event. She finished fourth in total with 157kg. Huyen said she was not satisfied despite winning the gold because her lift was 2kg less than her total at the 2019 World Cup in February. However, her coach, Nguyen Manh Thang, said that her performance was acceptable since it was not long since she had changed to compete in the 45kg division.
