HCMC cooperates with USAID to ease container congestion at Cat Lai Port
Many delegates discuss solutions to reduce congestion at Cat Lai Port in HCMC. (Photo: SGGP) The workshop attracted more than 70 delegates from customs authorities, ministries, and the business community to discuss this action plan. At the workshop, the relevant units announced 21 recommendations to improve the operational efficiency of Cat Lai Port to meet the increasing demand. Before the Covid-19 pandemic, the port was operating at full capacity. Meanwhile, the demand calculated by the number of containers is forecast to double by 2030. The above 21 recommendations are the results of a pre-feasibility study on congestion prevention and logistics facilitation at Cat Lai Port conducted by the Trade Facilitation Project funded by the USAID from May 2020 to March 2021. Vietnam, U.S. enhance cooperation in searching and collecting martyrs’ remains
The event was attended by former Deputy Chief of the General Department of Political Affairs (GDP) Lieutenant General Le Van Han, Chairman of the association Lieutenant General Hoang Khanh Hung, leaders of the association, representative of the U.S. Embassy in Vietnam, Harvard University, the American Institute of Peace. During the event, the association provided U.S. delegates with information about the search and collection of martyrs’ remains. Accordingly, the association has collected and publicized information of 115,000 martyrs on mass media; helped more than 20,000 martyrs’ families search for the remains of their relatives with more than 200 remains founded; provided free consultation for more than 1,000 DNA assessment cases; and coordinated with localities to move nearly 1,000 remains of martyrs in cemeteries back to their hometowns. MR4 and Lao People’s Army promote cooperation
Over the past time, despite the complicated developments of the COVID-19 pandemic, the MR4 Command has directed its affiliated units to closely work with Lao military units and localities to ensure security in border areas and manage COVID-19 pandemic, while helping the Lao side to build the political system, contributing to ensuring political security and social order. Vietnamese Deputy Defense Minister Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien affirmed that while delivering a speech at the ASEAN Defense Senior Officials’ Meeting Plus (ADSOM+) in Phnom Penh on May 18.
