Illustrative image (Source: Vietjet Air) New Delhi (VNA) – The first direct flight from Hanoi to India’s New Delhi landed at Indira Gandhi International Airport on December 7 night after travelling for more than five hours. Vietnamese Ambassador to India Pham Sanh Chau was present at the airport to welcome passengers of the flight that was operated by budget carrier Vietjet Air. The ambassador expressed his hope that the direct air route will facilitate cultural and people-to-people exchanges between the two countries, as well as the bilateral trade, investment and tourism ties. On December 6, Vietjet Air also launched its first direct flight from Ho Chi Minh City to the Indian capital city. Vietnam Airlines to increase flights to Philippines for football fans
Illustrative image (Source: VNA) Hanoi (VNA) – National flag carrier Vietnam Airlines announced on December 7 that it will have six more flights to Manila on December 10 to serve football fans, who want to watch the finals of SEA Games 30's men football between Vietnam and Indonesia. The additional services from Hanoi, Da Nang and Ho Chi Minh City to the Philippine capital of Manila will provide more than 1,300 seats. The added flights, using Airbus A321 and wide-body Boeing 787 Dreamliners, are scheduled to depart from Vietnam on the morning of December 10 and return home on the early morning of the following day. Vietnam Airlines is also cooperating with several travel agencies to create two-day tours on December 10 and 11 by combining air tickets with travel services to help fans enjoy the atmosphere of the SEA Games. 900,000 safe flights handled in 2019
The Vietnam Air Traffic Management Corporation (VATM) held a ceremony on the morning of December 7 to welcome the flight coded VN216 from Tan Son Nhat airport to Noi Bai airport, the 900,000th safe flights operated by VATM in 2019. Deputy Minister of Transport Le Anh Tuan said that the 900,000th flight is an important milestone, demonstrating the maturity of the Vietnam aviation. “In the coming years, the VATM should apply advanced aviation technology and science to enhancing the management capacity and the safe handling of flights to meet the increasing air transport demand,” Anh said. VATM Chairman Pham Viet Dung said that approximately 963,000 flights are estimated to be operated by VATM by the end of 2019, up 7% compared to 2018, bringing about VND4.1 trillion (US$176.38 million) in revenue, up 6.23% compared to 2018. Hanoi-Shenzhen, Guangzhou flights launched
The will be two flights between Hanoi and the Chinese destinations each day, boosting tourism ties between Vietnam and China. Photo for illustration The flights are also expected to help Vietnam attract more tourists from third countries as Shenzhen and Guangzhou are home to many foreign workers, businesses and investors. In 2017, Vietnam welcomed 4 million Chinese tourists, some 30 percent of the nearly 13 million foreigner visitors to the Southeast Asian country. Vietnamese man visits 50 countries, and counting, on motorbike
A Vietnamese man from southern Vietnam is living his dream, or everyone’s dream: traveling the world by motorbike. On the 794th day of his journey, Tran Dang Dang Khoa reached Sydney - the two-third mark on his seven-continent motorbike journey. “Suddenly I opened my eyes and I saw Sydney, an important milestone which marks two-thirds of my world journey on ‘The Memo’ and over two years since my departure,” Khoa shared with his 237,500 Facebook followers on August 3. A picture capturing nature in a rural area in Australia taken by Khoa has received positive feedback from his Facebook followers. “The Memo” is the name of the motorbike he has used for the trip, which began in June 2017, and the vehicle has so far taken him through around 50 countries. After Australia, the Tien Giang Province native expects to travel to Africa and the South Pole before heading home to Asia.
