The Hanoitimes - Hanoi People`s Committee held a conference on "Cooperation, Investment and Development of Hanoi City 2016" at Lotte Hotel, 54 Lieu Giai street, Ba Dinh district, on June 4. It makes a chance for the city’s authorities to reiterate their commitment to creating a transparent and favourable environment for all enterprises. Attending the conference were Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam, leaders of the Party, the State, and representatives of ministries. With the aim introducing the business community in Vietnam to the potential markets of Finland and the Nordic countries, as well as supporting programmes for domestic enterprises looking for foreign customers and improving internal innovation and competition, VCCI and the Embassy of Finland in Hanoi recently held the seminar "Doing business in Finland and the Nordic countries," under the framework of the 2012 Vietnam- EU Business Forum. According to Dr Doan Duy Khuong, VCCI Vice President, Vietnam and Finland have long, traditional relations and recently the relationship has become more intimate and cooperation has expanded in all aspects and developed in depth. Two countries will celebrate 40 years of diplomatic relations in 2013. Viet Nam's endangered wild flora and fauna species listed in the newly released Vietnam Red Book number up to 882 compared to 725 announced in the 1992-96 Red Book. The Vietnam Red Book 2007, launched by the Vietnam Scientific and Technological Institute and the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) on June 26, updates the latest data of Viet Nam 's flora and fauna preservation.Prof. Dr. Dang Ngoc Thanh, who led the compilation of the Red Book 2007, said the book reveals an alarming reality of the country's natural resources with the increasing number of endangered species and the dangerous levels. According to him, the new Red Book now has listed several species believed to be extinct, the highest level that was not seen in the previous publications. A great deal of species listed as vulnerable now become endangered. Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen invited the Vietnamese PM to attend the Summit which took place in Phnom Penh, Cambodia on January 10. The MLC Summit is held biennially and alternates between the member countries. This year's event is co-hosted by Cambodia and China under the theme “Peaceful River and Our Sustainable Development” and will focus on reviewing the cooperation among the countries following the first MLC held in March 2016 and discuss future cooperation orientations in addition to adopting several important documents. The MLC cooperation mechanism includes six countries along the Mekong River including China, Myanmar, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam.
