The national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines has participated in "The Sustainable Flight Challenge" (TSFC) programme, launched by SkyTeam Airline Alliance, with the first flight from Hanoi to the Republic of Korea’s Seoul. Passengers on Vietnam Airlines' flight were welcomed with a cloth bag and card conveying the message of environmental protection, all made from environmental-friendly materials. It has drawn the participation of 16 airlines from many countries including the United States, France, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain, China and the Republic of Korea. Meeting with CEO of Warburg Pincus Charles Kaye, PM Chinh noted that in the time ahead, it is necessary to improve the effectiveness of funding and focus on the key areas that can boost other fields. Samsung completed another major part of the construction of the R&D centre in Hanoi The above ceremony marks the completion of 70 per cent of the workload. Samsung ensures that the construction goes on as planned and expects to take the centre into operation by the end of this year as previously committed to the government. Choi Joo Ho, general director of Samsung Vietnam said, “Through the centre, Samsung targets to foster the study capacity of Vietnamese talents in AI, IoT, big data, and 5G to create a premise for the country to be ahead of the pack with the changes of the Fourth Industrial Revolution.” Ho added, “The R&D centre not only proves Samsung’s long-term investment commitment in Vietnam but also shows the group’s determination to support the country in becoming the leading manufacturing hub in Southeast Asia.” The centre has the total investment of $200 million, and the construction was started in March 2020. Techcombank is on track to be among the top ASEAN banks Techcombank’s rise within the Vietnamese banking industry was highlighted last year when it became the first non-state-owned bank to join Vietnam’s billion-dollar profit club. “Even in the very tough environment we are seeing, our employees have maintained a high quality and reliable service for our customers and this is helping us to deliver stellar performance year after year,” said Jens Lottner, CEO of Techcombank. Last year, the bank continued to reduce costs while focusing on building deposits in its current accounts and savings accounts (CASA), which Lottner described as a “stable and cheap” source of funding. Techcombank’s CASA ratio, which reflects the percentage of the bank’s total deposits that are CASA, jumped from 46.1 per cent in 2020 to 50.5 per cent last year, well on its way to the bank’s target of 55 per cent by 2025.
