Malaysia, EU hold 8th Senior Officials’ Meeting
Kuala Lumpur (VNA) – Malaysia and the EU held the 8th Senior Officials' Meeting at the premises of the EU delegation in Kuala Lumpur on August 1. The meeting covered a broad range of issues of mutual interest. They welcomed the upcoming EU-ASEAN Summit as an opportunity to enhance, besides the regional, the bilateral EU-Malaysia relations as well. The sides agreed to step up cooperation notably in the areas of trade and investment, security, human rights, economy, climate change, environment and forests, energy security and renewable energy and sustainable supply chains. They also welcomed the progress towards the signing of the Malaysia-EU Partnership and Cooperation Agreement (PCA), aiming to sign the agreement within the framework of the EU-ASEAN Summit in December in Brussels. Foreign Minister holds bilateral meetings on AMM-55 sidelines
At their meeting, FM Son and his New Zealand counterpart Nanaia Mahuta agreed on the need to increase delegation exchanges and the promotion of annual mechanisms, striving for 20% growth in annual two-way trade to match the bilateral Strategic Partnership. They concurred to recover collaboration in other fields such as education, tourism, tourism, people-to-people exchange after COVID-19. FM Son thanked New Zealand for providing 2 million NZD for Vietnam's recovery process. Mahuta affirmed that New Zealand will maintain the provision of ODA and scholarships to Vietnam and strengthen the country’s cooperation in the Mekong region. Senior officials meet for 21st ASEAN Conference on Civil Service Matters in Hanoi
Addressing the meeting, Vu Chien Thang, Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Home Affairs and rotating Chair of the ACCSM 21, welcomed the delegates to the event directly after two years of working online due to COVID-19 impacts. Thang said that activities and programs have been implemented within the framework of the ACCSM 21 Work Plan for the 2021-2025 period. Member countries have also worked closely together in dealing with challenges, including the COVID-19 pandemic, and giving new orientations for their cooperation in civil service matters with the aim to build an ASEAN Community of strong development, he said. (Photo: VNA) Hanoi (VNA) – Standing Deputy Prime Minister Pham Binh Minh hosted a reception in Hanoi on August 4 for heads of delegations of ASEAN and ASEAN Plus 3 countries to the 21st ASEAN Conference on Civil Service Matters (ACCSM 21). Welcoming the guests, Minh said that in terms of civil service cooperation, ASEAN countries have built a vision for the ASEAN Community in 2025, which targets building a strong ASEAN on three pillars: political-security cooperation, economic cooperation, and socio-culture cooperation. All these three pillars are people-oriented, thus contributing to building good governance in all areas, he stressed.
